My Pick

The 29-year-old Parker carries around a fine mark of 23-1 with 17 Ko’s and has fought 110 rounds since making his pro debut in 2015. He lost to Joshua Buatsi as an amateur in the quarter-finals at the 2014 English National Championships. Since turning pro he’s captured the WBO International and the vacant British Super Middleweight Titles. His lone defeat came to John Ryder in a shot at the vacant WBO Interim Super Middleweight Belt in November 2022 when he had to retire after four rounds due to a broken hand.

He stepped up in class against Ryder as his biggest wins before meeting him came against against Bradley Pryce, Luke Blackledge, Darryl Williams, Rohan Murdock and Vaughn Alexander. Parker measures 6-feet-tall with a 74-inch reach and has impressive power in his arsenal as 74 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including his last six. Parker’s a solid boxer with power but is probably more suited the European stage rather than taking on world-class opponents.

The 31-year-old Zeuge has a fine record of 27-1-1 with along with 15 Kos. He won the WBA Super Middleweight Title by a 12th-round knockout in a rematch with Giovanni De Carolis in November, 2016 after fighting to a 12-round draw with him just four months earlier. He then the defended the crown against Isaac Ekpo by a five-round technical decision, Paul Smith by a unanimous decision and then Ekpo again via a second-round stoppage. He lost the title in his next fight when he was stopped by Rocky Fielding. Zeuge turned pro back in 2012 following an amateur career which saw him box at the 2010 World Youth Championships and has 197 rounds under his belt since then.

The native of Berlin has also won the WBO Youth, IBF International, and Global Boxing Union World Super Middleweight Titles. Zeuge stands just over 5-feet-10-inches tall and has an unlisted reach, so gives up 1.5-inches in height to Parker. He isn’t known as a powerful puncher as just 55.6 per cent of his wins have been by stoppage, but can definitely take an opponent out. He’s gone the distance in his last two wins but his four previous wins came by stoppage.

Zeuge has also taken on mainly fellow Europeans during his career with all of his bouts being held in Germany. The only familiar names to most boxing fans are probably Fielding. Smith and Ekpo. He didn’t fight from June, 2019 until February, 2023 but won all three of his comeback fights last year against limited opposition. Zeuge has fine boxing skills to go along with a solid chin, but he’s basically unknown outside of Europe.

Prediction…

Zeuge is only two years older than Parker and although he sat out from 2020 to early 2023, he shouldn’t be underestimated. He has a solid chin and gives it his all in the ring. However, he needs to deal with Parker’s size, skills and power and arguably doesn’t possess enough power himself to discourage Parker from taking chances. This should be a close fight with no result including a draw being deemed an upset. I’ll give Parker a slight edge here though as he’s fighting at home with British decisions often being handed out to undeserving hometown boxers.

Parker’s power and recent activity may be the only major differences here.
