George Liddard vs Dario Morello Preview August 22nd, 2026

The vacant European Middleweight Title is on the line this Saturday, August 22nd as unbeaten George ‘The Billericay Bomber’ Liddard of England takes on Italy’s Dario ‘Spartan’ Morello. The 12-rounder from the Copper Box Arena in London, England can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Liddard last fought in March when he beat Tyler Denny via a 12-round unanimous decision to defend his British and Commonwealth Middleweight Belts and capture the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Strap. Liddard won the British and Commonwealth Crowns in his previous outing last October when he stopped Kieron Conway in the 10th round. That win saw Liddard become the youngest British and Commonwealth Middleweight Champion in history at the age of 23. However he recently vacated the Commonwealth Title. Morello’s last bout resulted in a 12-round unanimous nod over Faton Vukshinaj to take the vacant EBU Silver Middleweight Belt.

My Pick
The 24-year-old Liddard, who started boxing as a youngster, hails from Billericay, Essex and makes the ring walk with a perfect record of 14-0 with 8 Ko’s. He has 74 rounds of pro experience under his belt since making his debut in 2022. As an amateur, Liddard reached the semifinals of the 2021 England Boxing National Championship and reportedly won four national titles and won gold medals at a couple of international tournaments.
Liddard stands 5-feet-10-inches tall but unfortunately has an unlisted reach. He’s not the most powerful puncher in the 160 lb middleweight division but can do some damage if he connects on the button as his current knockout ratio clocks in at 57.1 per cent. He’s stopped four of his last six opponents and two of the past three. Liddard has fought just once as a pro outside of England and has fought mainly domestic-level opponents with wins over Peter Kramer, George Davey, Omar Nguale Ilunga, Derrick Osaze and Arron Sutton.
The 33-year-old Morello of Calabria, climbs through the ropes with an impressive mark of 26-1 with 4 Ko’s. He’s never fought outside his homeland of Italy though and has also boxed domestic-level opponents. In fact, just 14 of his 27 opponents entered the ring with a winning record. He made his pro debut in 2025 and has boxed 189 rounds since. He also enjoyed an extensive amateur career and reportedly went 58-27-2.
He reportedly captured his first national championship at the age of 14 and often represented Italy on the international stage. Morello also competed in the World Series of Boxing for the Italia Thunder team. His lone defeat as a pro came at the hands of Luther Clay in 2019 via a 10-round unanimous decision to lose his WBO Global Welterweight Title. Morello has managed to win several belts during his career including the Italian Welterweight and Middleweight Titles as well as the WBO Global, WBC Mediterranean, Universal Boxing Organization International, and EBU Silver Middleweight Belts.
Morello also measures 5-feet-10-inches in height, the same as Liddard, and also has an unlisted reach. His power is quite minimal as just 15.4 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he’s gone the distance in his last five outings. However he has now won 11 fights in a row since losing to Clay seven years ago.
Prediction…
Liddard is nine years younger than Morello and has a big edge in power. Morello obviously possesses some fine boxing skills as 22 of his 26 wins have come by decision. However his lack of power may be his downfall this Saturday as Liddard is also a skilled boxer who impressed in his wins over Kieron Conway and Tyler Denny. Morello has a solid chin and it’s probably going to be tested often enough by Liddard as I don’t think he’ll be able to keep him at bay for all 12 rounds. Regardless if it goes to the scorecards or not, I’m expecting Liddard to add another title to his collection this weekend.
Liddard’s power and talent could be the difference here.
