Emanuel Navarrete vs O’Shaquie Foster Preview October. 24th, 2026

There’s an excellent junior lightweight unification tilt this Saturday, October 24th when Emanuel Navarrete of Mexico will be putting his IBF/WBO Titles on the line against WBC Champion O’Shaquie Foster of Orange, Texas. The 12-rounder from San Antonio, Texas can be seen live on DAZN in most nations.
Navarrete last fought in May when he stopped Eduardo Nunez in the 11th round to take his IBF Belt. Foster’s last fight resulted in a majority decision over former WBA Featherweight Champion Raymond Ford in May. Foster regained his belt in November, 2024 with a split decision over Robson Conceicao in a rematch after losing his title to him via a controversial split decision four months earlier. He then moved up in weight and won the WBC Interim Lightweight Belt via unanimous decision against Stephen Fulton. However he moved back down to junior lightweight against Ford.
Navarrete won the vacant WBO Crown after getting up from the canvas in the fourth round to stop Liam Wilson in the ninth round in February, 2023. He defended it by beating former WBO Featherweight and WBC Junior Lightweight Champion Oscar Valdez by unanimous decision. Next he drew with Robson Conceicao before attempting to win a world title in a fourth weight division when Denis Berinchyk beat him by split decision for the vacant WBO Lightweight Belt.
After losing to Berinchyk, Navarrete returned to junior lightweight and stopped Valdez in six rounds in a rematch. He then went eight rounds with Charly Suarez. The fight was originally called a technical decision victory for Navarrete as he suffered a bad cut and couldn’t continue. The original ruling was that the cut was caused by an accidental headbutt but video replays showed that a Suarez punch did the damage and it was officially changed to a no-contest. Navarrete then rebounded with the win over Nunez in his last fight.

My Pick
The 31-year-old Navarrete won the WBO World Super Bantamweight Title by beating Isaac Dogboe by unanimous decision in 2018 and stopped him in the 12th round of their rematch five months later. He defended the belt four times. However his fifth defence was called a no-contest after he stopped Uriel Lopez in the sixth round because there was no official from the WBO boxing commission present during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Navarrete moved up in weight and captured the vacant WBO Featherweight Crown in 2020 with a unanimous decision over Ruben Villa. He defended it by stopping Christopher Diaz in the 12th round before decisioning Joet Gonzalez and then stopping Eduardo Baez in six rounds. The Mexican warrior then won a world title in a third weight division with his ninth-round TKO over Liam Wilson in 2023 for the vacant WBO Junior Lightweight Crown.
After all of his recent activity, Navarrete enters the ring with an official mark of 40-2-1 with 33 Ko’s. He has very convincing power in his punches as 82.5 per cent of his wins have been by stoppage and his power doesn’t seem to fade in the later rounds. He has been forced to fight the distance in five of his last 10 fights though. Navarrete stands 5-feet-7-inches tall with a 72-inch reach, turned pro back in 2012 when he was just 17 years old and has boxed 265 rounds since.
His first defeat came in his sixth pro bout when he came out on the wrong end of a four-round unanimous decision to Daniel Argueta back in 2012 he didn’t lose again until 2024 when Denis Berinchyk edged him by split decision in his move up to lightweight. Navarrete also owns wins over the likes of Dennis Contreras, Luis Orozco and Glenn Porras earlier in his career. Even though Wilson dropped him in their 2023 battle, he’s proven to have a pretty solid chin so far.
Foster is a couple of years older at the age of 33 and he makes the ring walk with a mark of 25-3 with 12 Ko’s. He has boxed a total of 194 rounds since making his pro debut back in 2012. He enjoyed a fine amateur career and made it to the 2007 National Silver Gloves Final in the 12/13-year-old division. He also reached the 2010 USA Junior National Championship Semifinal and lost a couple of times to Joseph Diaz and was also beaten by Oscar Valdez.
As a pro, Foster captured the WBC Silver Super Featherweight Title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Jon Fernandez in 2018. He added the vacant WBA Fedecentro Super Featherweight Belt in 2019 when he stopped Jesus Bravo in the eighth round. He also has wins over Miguel Roman, Alberto Mercado and Fatiou Fassinou. His first two defeats came at the hands of Samuel Teah by eight-round unanimous decision in 2015 and to Rolando Chinea via eight-round split decision a year later. Foster measures just over 5-feet-8-inches tall with a 72-inch reach for a 1.5-inch edge in height on Navarrete.
When comparing power, Foster definitely comes in second best to Navarrete as just 48 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he’s gone the distance in seven of his past eight fights. His last knockout was over Eduardo Hernandez in October, 2023 with his previous stoppage coming in November, 2020 when he halted Miguel Roman in the ninth round. Foster beat Rey Vargas by a comfortable unanimous decision to win the vacant WBC Junior Lightweight Belt in February, 2023. He defended it twice before losing to Robson Conceicao as he edged Abraham Nova by split decision and stopped Eduardo Hernandez with 22 seconds left in the fight while behind on two judge’s scorecards in his first defence.
Prediction…
Navarrete is a naturally hard-hitting aggressive boxer with plenty of power while Foster is known for his slick boxing skills. He’s not exactly feather-fisted but comes nowhere near Navarrete in power. However Navarrete is basically a volume puncher who typically stops opponents with an accumulation of blows rather than with just one shot. He’s also been on the canvas before but has a solid chin. Navarrete does struggle somewhat against superior boxers and that’s exactly what Foster is. I think this fight is going to be decided by Foster’s chin. As long as he can handle Navarrete’s power he should be able to outbox him. Of course, that’s a big IF. Foster’s biggest wins have been against fellow boxers such as Ray Ford, Stephen Fulton and Robson Conceicao. Oddly enough, Eduardo Hernandez is a power puncher and Foster stopped him late while being outboxed, so one never knows in this sport.
Foster wins as long as his chin holds up.
