My Pick

The 32-year-old Pauldo fights out of Houston, Texas and makes the ring walk with a mark of 20-2 with 10 Ko’s. He’s boxed 114 rounds since making his pro debut in 2014 following his amateur career. He measures 5-feet-7-inches tall with a 72 inch reach and has average power as half of his 20 wins have come by stoppage for a knockout rate of 50 per cent. Five of his last 10 wins have ended before the distance.

The first defeat on Pauldo’s record came at the hands of Efrain Cruz by way of a six-round split decision back in 2015. His other loss was a 10-round split decision defeat to Miguel Madueno in February, 2024. Therefore he went a span of 13 fights and nine years between defeats. However he was also stopped in three rounds by Austin Delay in 2019 but the result was changed to a no-contest. Pauldo has a solid chin but hasn’t really faced any legitimate contenders other than former world champion Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov. He also has wins over Jerry Perez, Josec Ruiz and Joshua Zuniga.

Giron is 27 years old and climbs through the ring ropes with a mark of 23-5 with 14 Ko’s. He turned pro back in 2015 as a teenager and has 173 rounds of experience under his belt since. He stands 5-feet-5-inches tall with a 68-inch so gives up two inches in height and four inches in reach to Pauldo. He isn’t really known as a heavy hitter but 60.9 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. However he’s halted just four of his last 11 opponents.

The first defeat suffered by Giron came at the hands of Michel Rivera by eight-round unanimous decision in 2019. He lost another eight-round unanimous nod to Giovanni Cabrera in 2022 and dropped a 10-round majority decision to Jose Matias Romero in 2023. Giron dropped Floyd Schofield in the 11th round with a left hook in 2024 but lost a 12-round unanimous decision. In his next outing three months later, Giron lost another 12-round unanimous decision, this time to Eduardo Hernandez.

Giron captured the vacant WBC Youth Silver Super Lightweight Belt in 2018 via a 10-round unanimous decision over Aram Fanilian. He added the WBC Fecarbox Super Featherweight Title in 2023 when he stopped Diego Andrade Chavez in the ninth round. He also has wins over Carlos Balderas, Bryan Mercado, George Acosta and Alex Dilmaghani. Giron is known for his durability and aggressive style as well as his left hooks and body attack.

Prediction…

Neither man has exceptional power and they both have solid chins. Pauldo has the better overall boxing skills and the size advantage but is five years older. Pauldo looked quite impressive against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov and he should expect Giron to pressure him when possible. I believe Pauldo can handle Giron’s power though and should be able to outbox him for a relatively close unanimous decision.

Pauldo has a the edge in skills.
