Hamzah Sheeraz vs Simon Zachenhuber Preview July 25th, 2026
Unbeaten WBO Super Middleweight Champion Hamzah Sheeraz of England battles it out with Simon Zachenhuber of Germany this Saturday, July 25th in his first title defence. Sheeraz won the vacant belt in May when he stopped Alem Begic of Germany in the second round. This week’s 12-round bout from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia can be seen live on DAZN pay-per-view in most nations on the undercard of the Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga fight. In Sheeraz’s previous outing he posted a fifth-round stoppage over Edgar Berlanga in July and five months earlier he battled to a 12-round draw with Carlos Adames in a shot at the WBC Middleweight Title. Zachenhuber last saw action just three weeks ago in June when he halted Armin Ajrulai after four rounds.

The undefeated Sheeraz, is 27 years old and owns a near-perfect record of 23-0-1 with 19 Ko’s. He enjoyed a fine amateur career and has 105 rounds of experience under his belt since turning pro in 2017. He was a three-time finalist at the National Junior Championships but became disillusioned with boxing after being overlooked for the Commonwealth Youth Championships. He then took a year off to focus on an electrician’s apprenticeship before being talked back into the ring and turning pro.
It was a wise choice as Sheeraz won the vacant WBO European Super Welterweight Title in 2019 when he stopped Ryan Kelly in the sixth round. He defended the belt four times and captured the vacant WBC International Silver Middleweight Belt in 2022 by halting Jez Smith in the second round. Sheeraz added the Commonwealth Middleweight Title in 2022 when he stopped River Wilson-Bent in the second round. Sheeraz stopped Tyler Denny in the second round in 2024 to retain his Commonwealth and WBC Silver Middleweight Titles and win the EBU European Belt.
Sheeraz is quite big for a super middleweight as he measures 6-feet-3-inches tall with a 75-inch reach so is 2.5-inches taller than Zachenhuber. He possesses plenty of power in his punching arsenal as his current knockout ratio clocks in at 82.6 per cent and he’s stopped 17 of his past 18 opponents. He stepped up in class against Carlos Adames in February, 2025 and didn’t look as sharp as usual but rebounded well against Edgar Berlanga. So far his power has been too much for most of his opponents to handle. He also has wins against Austin Williams, Liam Williams and Bradley Skeete.
The southpaw Zachenhuber is 28 years of age and he makes the ring walk with a fine record of 29-1 with 18 Ko’s and has boxed 137 rounds since his pro debut in 2018. He measures just over six-feet-tall but unfortunately has an unlisted reach. As far as power is concerned, he’s also got quite a bit of it as 62.1 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including four of his last six but he’s gone the distance in two of his last three outings. The lone defeat on the German’s record is a six-round points decision to Pawel August in England in April.
In 2022, Zachenhuber won the vacant IBF Youth Middleweight Title by stopping Maurice Morio in the third round. he then added the German International Middleweight Belt via a 10-round unanimous decision over Mbemba Miesi. The next belt in his collection was the IBF European Super Middleweight Title which he captured by halting Armen Yepremyan in the fifth stanza. Zachenhuber also has wins over Erick Lopez, Leonardo Di Stefano and Paulinus Ndjolonimu. Just 16 of his 30 opponents entered the ring with a winning record and he’s never fought outside of Europe.
Prediction…
Both boxers have the power to cause damage but Sheeraz certainly has the better overall boxing skills and has faced tougher opposition. This could be a bit of a mismatch much like Sheeraz’s fight against Alem Begic and I expect Sheeraz to win rather handily with a stoppage being a possible outcome.
Sheeraz is a class above Zachenhuber.
