O’Shaquie Foster vs Raymond Ford Preview May 30th, 2026

WBC Junior Lightweight Champion O’Shaquie Foster of Orange, Texas defends his belt against former WBA Featherweight Champion Raymond Ford of Camden, New Jersey this Saturday, May 30th. Foster regained his belt in November, 2024 with a split decision over Robson Conceicao in a rematch after losing his title to him via a controversial split decision four months earlier. He then won the WBC Interim Lightweight Belt via a unanimous decision against Stephen Fulton in his last outing in December. Ford won his featherweight belt in March, 2024 with a dramatic last round TKO over Otabek Kholmatov with just seven seconds to go in the fight while trailing on two of the three scorecards 106-103. However, he lost the title in his first defence when he dropped a controversial split decision to Nick Ball. He rebounded from that setback with 10-round unanimous shutout decisions over Orlando Gonzalez and Thomas Mattice and last boxed in August when he beat Abraham Nova by a 10-round unanimous nod. This weekend’s 12-rounder from Houston, Texas can be seen live on DAZN in most nations.

Here are the betting odds from online sportsbook BetOnline.ag (full review here).

  • Raymond Ford +121
  • O’Shaquie Foster -155

My Pick

The 32-year-old Foster climbs through the ropes with a mark of 24-3 with 12 Ko’s and has boxed 182 rounds since making his pro debut in 2012. He enjoyed a fine amateur career and made it to the 2007 National Silver Gloves Final in the 12/13-year-old division and reached the 2010 USA Junior National Championship Semifinal but lost a couple of times to Joseph Diaz and was also beaten by Oscar Valdez.

As a pro, Foster also captured the WBC Silver Super Featherweight Title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Jon Fernandez in 2018 and took the vacant WBA Fedecentro Super Featherweight Belt in 2019 when he stopped Jesus Bravo in the eighth round. He also has wins over Miguel Roman, Alberto Mercado and Fatiou Fassinou. His other defeats came at the hands of Samuel Teah by eight-round unanimous decision in 2015 and to Rolando Chinea via an eight-round split decision a year later. Foster stands just over 5-feet-8-inches tall with a 72-inch reach and as far as power goes, 50 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he’s gone the distance in six of his past seven fights.

He was riding a 12-fight winning streak until losing his belt to Robson Conceicao and went the distance in six of those contests prior to stopping Eduardo Hernandez in October, 2023 with his previous stoppage win coming in November, 2020 when he halted Miguel Roman in the ninth round. Foster defended his title twice before losing to Conceicao as he edged Abraham Nova by a split decision and rallied to stop Eduardo Hernandez with 22 seconds left in the fight while behind on two judge’s scorecards in his first defence. Foster beat Rey Vargas by a comfortable unanimous decision to win the vacant belt in February, 2023.

Ford is a 27-year-old southpaw who owns a fine record of 18-1-1 with 8 Ko’s. He turned pro back in 2019 and has 143 rounds of experience to his name. He also enjoyed a fine amateur career as he won the 2018 U.S. National Golden Gloves Championships and took silver at the 2017 and 2018 National Championships. Since turning pro he’s beaten every opponent other than Ball and Aaron Perez, who went the distance with him in an eight-round draw in 2021.

Ford won the vacant WBA Continental Featherweight Title in 2021 when he stopped Reece Bellotti in the third round and added the vacant IBF North American Featherweight Belt with a 10-round unanimous decision over Richard Medina in June, 2022. He measures 5-feet-7-inches tall with a 69-inch reach so gives up 1.5-inches in height and three inches in reach to Foster. He also carries average power in his punches as 44.4 per cent of his wins have come by knockout, including just two of his last eight victories. He also has wins over former world champion Jessie Magdaleno and Edward Vazquez.

Prediction…

Ford is five years younger than Foster but gives up height, reach and power. They both possess fine overall boxing skills and ring smarts while Foster as more experience against tougher opposition. This fight is likely to go the distance and it’s up for grabs really. As with most fights, whoever lets his hands go the most will likely get the nod by the judges here. It’s a close call but I’ll give Foster the slight edge.

Foster’s experience could be the difference.
