Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley will finally meet in the octagon this Saturday, September 19th to headline a stacked UFC Fight Night card from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
This fight has been a long time in the making. It could have been (should have been) for the Welterweight Title two years ago. Covington had defeated Rafael dos Anjos for the interim belt in June of 2018 and was in line for the unification bout with Woodley that everyone wanted to see. After this Covington had to beat Lawler, but then was finally given his title shot in what turned out to be a great back and forth fight that was eventually won by Usman. So now, with Woodley on a two fight losing skid (he was also dominated by Gilbert Burns this past May) and Covington coming off his title fight loss to Usman, the Woodley vs Covington fight has finally been made with both fighters looking to get back into contention.
