The Pacific Classic is set to run this Saturday (August 22nd) at Del Mar Racetrack in California. The race has a $500,000 purse and is part of the Breeders Cup Challenge series. The field is small with only 6 horses running this year, but it should be a fast and competitive race, headlined by Maximum Security who many consider to be the fastest horse in the world.
On this page I’ve outlined the best sportsbook for betting on the Pacific Classic, looked at the morning line odds for the race and provided a 3 step guide you can follow to get your bets placed on the race online.

2020 Pacific Classic Morning Line Odds
Here are the post positions and morning line odds for the 2020 Pacific Classic. These odds will change leading up to the race depending on the amount of money bet on each horse.
- Midcourt 7-2
- Higher Power 3-1
- Mirinaque 10-1
- Dark Vader 12-1
- Maximum Security 1-1
- Sharp Samurai 8-1
Maximum Security is the clear favorite with odds of 1-1. He’s coming off a win at the San Diego Handicap in July, where he held off both Midcourt and Higher Power who finished second and third, respectively, in that race. Maximum Security has now won 5 straight races dating back to the Haskell Stakes last year. The only race he’s truly lost was the Pegasus last year when he finished second to King for a Day. He was also DQ’d from the 2019 Kentucky Derby in a race he was clearly the fastest horse.
I expect Maximum Security to start the race on Saturday with shorter odds than 1-1 as it’s clear he’s the faster horse than his two main competitors Higher Power and Midcourt, who he already beat last month.
