The Pacific Classic is set to run this Saturday, September 3rd at Del Mar Racetrack in California. The race has a $1,000,000 purse and is part of the Breeders Cup Challenge series. There will be just six horses in the field, and Flightline is a massive 1-5 favorite, so it will be a surprise if one of the other five horses takes the win on Saturday.
On this page I’ve outlined the best sportsbook for betting on the Pacific Classic, looked at the morning line odds for the race and provided a 3 step guide you can follow to get your bets placed on the race online.

2022 Pacific Classic Morning Line Odds
Here are the post positions and morning line odds for the 2022 Pacific Classic. These odds will change leading up to the race depending on the amount of money bet on each horse.
- Extra Hope 30-1
- Country Grammer 4-1
- Royal Ship 8-1
- Express Train 12-1
- Flightline 1-5
- Stilleto Boy 20-1
Flightline is a massive 1-5 favorite heading into the Pacific Classic. This 4-year-old colt was late to start his racing career and has competed in just four races dating back to early 2021, winning every start. Most recently Flightline won the Metropolitan at Belmont Park in June. That race was a distance of 1 mile, which is the longest distance Metropolitan has run in his career. The 1 1/4 miles of the Pacific Classic is unchartered territory for this horse and that could give the other horses in the field some hope.
Country Grammer is the other top contender with odds of 4-1. Country Grammer won the Dubai World Cup at this same distance in March, and also has a win at the Gold Cup at Santa Anita at this distance last year.
I like Express Train at odds of 12-1. He should be taken seriously as a real contender. He was the favorite heading into last years Pacific Classic before finishing 6th, but he’s followed it up with a successful run since that race with 3 wins, including the Santa Anita Handicap at this same distance of 1 1/4 miles.
This is actually a strong field, so it’s somewhat surprising that Flightline is such a massive favorite.
