The race has a $1,000,000 purse and is part of the Breeders Cup Challenge series. There will be eleven horses in the field. Geaux Rocket Ride is the 5-2 favorite heading into the Pacific Classic. This 3-year-old colt is coming off a win at the Haskell Stakes. He has won 3 of his 4 career races, and has shown potential to be one of the fastest horses on the planet.

Arabian Knight is the second favorite in the eleven horse field. He finished third, behind Geaux Rocket Ride, at the Haskell Stakes, but won his 2 other career races back in January, 2023 and November, 2022. He’s another relatively inexperienced 3-year-old colt who has shown speed in his limited number of races.

Defunded rounds out the top three favorites with odds of 4-1. He is a 5-year-old gelding who has wins in the Californian Stakes and Hollywood Gold Cup this year. He’s coming off a fourth place finish at the Sand Diego Handicap in July.

I like Defunded at 4-1. He’s an experienced horse who has proven himself as a winner. His victory at the Hollywood Gold Cup this past May was at the same distance as the Pacific Classic. Neither Geaux Rocket Ride or Arabian Knight have ever ran a race as long as the Pacific Classic at 1 1/4 miles.
