The 2020 Belmont Stakes will take place tomorrow evening (post time of 5:42pm), look different than a traditional Belmont Stakes race. With the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes both postponed to September and October, respectively, the Belmont Stakes will now take center stage as the first race of this years Triple Crown. The distance will also be shortened to 9 furlongs (1 1/8 miles) from 12 furlongs (1 1/2 miles) due to the fact that the horses have been out of competition for the past few months.
The media attention and betting action on this years Belmont Stakes should rival a traditional Kentucky Derby. For this reason I wanted to add this page to help new Florida bettors easily get some action on this years Belmont Stakes.
On this page I will outline the best sportsbook for Florida residents, look at the betting climate in Florida, take a peek at the Belmont Stakes odds and finish up with an easy to follow 3 step guide to help you get your Belmont Stakes bets placed online.

Belmont Stakes Betting in Florida
It’s not currently legal to operate a sportsbook in Florida (with the recent federal rulings this could change in the near future). At this time Florida residents who want to bet on sports online must do so at a betting site that is licensed and regulated outside of the USA. BetOnline.ag falls into this category as it is licensed and regulated in Panama and accepts players from across the USA, including Florida.
Florida does allow horse race betting at the racetracks though, so you can also place your bets on the Belmont Stakes at any local tracks such as Gulfstream Park or Tampa Bay Downs in Florida.
That said, if you want to bet from the comfort of your own home BetOnline.ag is your best option. Check out our Florida sports betting page for a further look at the sports betting legalities in the State.
Belmont Stakes Betting Lines
Here is a screenshot of the current fixed futures odds (and post positions) for the Belmont Stakes race from BetOnline (from June 19th). These odds could change as we get closer to the race.
As you can see Tiz the Law is a big favorite at odds of -130. It would take an upset for him to not win the race.

Before race day you can place your bets in the Sports section of the BetOnline website. Click ‘Sports’ from the top navigation bar, open the ‘Horse Racing’ drop down menu in the left sidebar and select ‘Horse Futures’. Once you’ve added all of the bets you want to make click on ‘Submit all bets’ in the right sidebar to confirm your wagers.
