Maicol Rincon vs Alan David Picasso Preview August 29th, 2026
Alan David Picasso of Mexico returns to the ring in his homeland this Saturday, August 29th to take on Maicol Rincon of Bogota, Colombia in a 12-round featherweight tilt. Picasso, who’s also known as David Picasso, Alan Romero and David Rey Picasso, was last in the ring in December when he traveled to Tokyo, Japan. He took on undisputed Super Bantamweight Champion Naoya Inoue and dropped a wide unanimous decision. In his previous outing five months earlier Picasso beat Kyonosuke Kameda by a controversial 10-round majority decision. Rincon last fought in April when he battled to an eight-round draw with Douglas Gonzalez. It was his second straight fight without a win as he lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Ayrton Gimenez five months earlier in a shot at the vacant WBO Latino Super Featherweight Belt. Saturday’s fight is being contested for the WBC Silver Title.

The 29-year-old Rincon makes the ring walk with a record of 16-3-2 with 8 Ko’s. He made his pro debut in 2021 following his amateur career and has 117 rounds of experience under his belt since. Unfortunately there’s no height and reach information on BoxRec for Rincon so we don’t know how he stacks up size-wise against Picasso. We do know he possesses average power though as 50 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including his last four.
Rincon’s first defeat came in his third pro outing when he lost a six-round unanimous decision to Sebastian Molina in 2022. He dropped a close eight-round unanimous decision to William Vargas in 2024 in a shot at the vacant WBC Fecarbox Super Featherweight Belt despite dropping Vargas in the second round. Rincon’s last defeat was to Ayrton Gimenez by 10-round unanimous decision in December.
Rincon has a pair of draws on his record. The first was a six-round affair with Angelo Arguello and the other was the eight-round bout with Douglas Gonzalez in his last outing in April. Fifteen of Rincon’s 21 opponents entered the ring with a winning records. his biggest wins have been against Wuilmer Diaz, Hector Gonzalez, Lamberto Meza, Luis Torres and Argel Berrio.
Picasso will be fighting for the 35th time as a pro despite being just 26 years of age. He made his pro debut in 2017 as a teenager and has boxed 197 rounds since. He climbs into the ring with a fine mark of 32-1-1. The only blemishes on his record are a four-round technical draw with Martin Jiminez Delgado in 2018 and the loss to Naoya Inoue. Delgado was originally credited with a fourth-round TKO but the decision was overturned to a technical draw. Picasso measures 5-feet-8-inches tall with a 70-inch reach.
As far as power is concerned he’s slightly above average as 53.1 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he’s gone the distance in five of his past seven contests. At one point in his career Picasso had halted 10 of 12 opponents. He captured the vacant WBC Youth Inter-Continental Jr Featherweight Title in 2019 via a 10-round unanimous decision over Anthony Jiminez Salas. He added the vacant Inter-Continental Featherweight Crown the next year with a unanimous nod over Jesus Ouijada. Picasso then won the vacant NABF Jr Featherweight Belt in 2022 with a fourth-round stoppage of David Reyes Cota.
Next he took the WBC Silver Crown in 2023 via a sixth-round TKO over Sabelo Ngebinyana. Picasso took a step up in class in 2024 when he beat Azat Hovhannisyan by 12-round unanimous decision to defend his Silver Title. None of Picasso’s first 10 opponents had a winning record when stepping into the ring. His biggest wins to date have been against Kyonosuke Kameda, Hovhannisyan, Carlos Alberto Ocampo, Victor Proa, Jesus Gomez Quintana, Edixon Perez, Kevin Villanueva, Yeison Vargas, Erik Ruiz and Damien Vazquez.
Prediction…
Picasso handled himself well against Inoue but he didn’t have much of a chance since he isn’t known as a power puncher. He does possess fine boxing skills though. Rincon is winless in his last two fights and has yet to face a legitimate contender. This appears to be a stay-busy fight for Picasso and it’s one that he should win. Of course, he can’t afford to take Rincon lightly though.
Picasso’s boxing skills and experience are the key.
