The Belmont Stakes will look much different than normal this year. Typically the final race of the American Triple Crown, the 2020 Belmont Stakes will instead be the first Triple Crown race to take place due to the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes being postponed to September and October, respectively. The length will also be shortened from the usual 12 furlongs (1 1/2 miles) to 9 furlongs (1 1/8 miles) to take into account most of the horses in the field are not yet prepared for the long distance of a traditional Belmont Stakes race.
The Belmont Stakes should receive extra attention this year, as it becomes the defacto Kentucky Derby as the first race of the Triple Crown. The race will be nationally broadcast on NBC from 3-6pm EST tomorrow, June 20th, and I’m expecting plenty of new bettors looking to place wagers. Because of this I created this page to help Michigan residents quickly and easily place bets on the 2020 Belmont Stakes online.
On this page I will outline our top rated betting site for Michigan residents, look at the early Belmont Stakes odds, touch on the legality of sports betting in Michigan and finish up with an easy to follow 3 step guide to betting on the Belmont Stakes race online.

These odds could change as we get closer to the race, but I think they are more accurate than the morning line odds. Belmont Stakes Betting in Michigan
It is now legal to operate a sportsbook in Michigan. Legal sports betting was introduced on March 11th, 2020 and there are now a few Detroit-area casinos that are taking sports bets. That said, mobile sports betting is not expected to be introduced in Michigan until 2021, so at this time you would have to go into a licensed casino in order to place your Belmont Stakes wager.
If you want to bet online then the best option is still betting through an offshore betting site that is regulated and licensed outside of the USA. BetOnline.ag falls into this category as they are a site that is licensed in Panama and has been serving American players since 2004.
In addition to the licensed casinos and offshore betting sites, Michigan residents can also bet on the Belmont Stakes race at local horse racing tracks that offer simulcast horse race betting. Norville Downs in northern Michigan is the main track in Michigan that will be taking in person bets on the Belmont Stakes.
