Shadasia Green vs Lani Daniels Preview April 17th, 2026

IBF/WBO Super Middleweight Champion Shadasia Green of Paterson, New Jersey defends her belts against former IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Lani Daniels of New Zealand this Friday, April 17th. The 10-round bout can be seen live on ESPN and ESPN+ from New York City while fans in the UK and Ireland can see it in Sky Sports+. Green last fought in July when she beat Savannah Marshall by a 10-round split decision to take her IBF Belt. Green went into the fight as the WBO Champion as she earned a 10-round split decision over Melinda Watpool for the vacant WBO Belt in November, 2024. Daniels last saw action in December when she dropped a 10-round unanimous decision to Sarah Scheurich. It was her second straight defeat as she also lost a 10-round unanimous decision to Claressa Shields five months earlier in a shot at Shield’s four heavyweight belts.

My Pick
The 36-year-old Green carries around a record of 16-1 with 11 Ko’s to her name and has boxed 84 rounds since making her pro debut in 2019. She enjoyed a fine amateur career as she competed at the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships as a heavyweight and won a silver medal. She also reached the USA Women’s National Championships Final in 2017. Green measures 5-feet-8-inches tall and has an unlisted reach so has a 1.5-inch height advantage over Marshall.
Green won the vacant WBC International Super Middleweight Title in 2020 when she stopped Martha Patricia Lara Gaytan in the first round. She added the vacant WBC Silver Super Middleweight Crown in 2022 when she also halted Angelica Lopez Flores in the opening round. In her next fight she earned the vacant American Boxing Federation Inter-Continental Super Middleweight Belt with a third-round TKO over Celia Rosa Sierra.
The first world title shot for Green came in December, 2023 when she faced Franchon Crews Dezurn for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight Belt but she dropped a 10-round unanimous decision for her lone defeat. She rebounded from the setback with an eight-round unanimous decision over Natasha Spence and then won the vacant WBO Title with the split decision over Watpool in November. Green possesses great power as 73.3 per cent of her wins have come by stoppage. However she has gone the distance in her past five fights. Twelve of her 17 opponents entered the ring with a winning record.
Daniels is 37 years old and enters the ring with a mark of 11-4-2 with 1 Ko and has boxed 140 rounds since making her pro debut in 2017. She began boxing as a way to lose weight and became a two-time New Zealand amateur champion with titles in 2014 and 2015. She’s the first New Zealand-born boxer of Maori descent to win world titles in two different weight divisions and also works as a mental health nurse. Power is lacking from Daniels’ arsenal though as she has just one win by stoppage, which came in the third round over Razel Mohammed in 2023.
She measures just over 5-feet-6-inches tall with a 67-inch reach. Daniels’ first defeat came at the hands of Geovana Peres by 10-round split decision in 2018 to lose the New Zealand Light Heavyweight Belt which she won four months earlier by unanimous decision over Trish Vaka. Peres and Daniels fought a rematch in 2019 for the vacant WBO Light Heavyweight Title with Daniels losing again, this time by unanimous decision. Of course her last two losses came in her last two outings against Claressa Shields and Sarah Scheurich.
Daniels had a shot at the vacant New Zealand Middleweight Belt in August and October of 2019, but both of those fights against Tessa Tualevao ended in eight-round draws. She then captured the vacant Australasian Heavyweight Title in 2023 with a unanimous decision over Sequita Hemingway and added the vacant IBF Heavyweight Crown the same year via unanimous decision over Alrie Meleisea and defended it three times. Nine of her 17 opponents entered the ring with a winning record.
Prediction…
Green has a big edge when it comes to power but it hasn’t been evident lately as she hasn’t stopped anybody since February, 2023. Daniels has just one KO on her record and that came in August, 2023. Green is the more aggressive of the two and I think that will lead her to victory this weekend.
Green is more aggressive and has more power.
