My Pick

Pacheco is just 25 years old and already owns a perfect record of 25-0 with 18 Ko’s and has boxed 128 rounds since making his pro debut in 2019. He enjoyed a fine amateur career as he made it to the quarterfinals of the 2017 USA Youth National Championships and 2018 World Youth Championships, won the 2018 USA Youth Open and reached the final of the 2018 USA Western Regional Final and the semifinals of the 2017 USA Jr Olympics.

Pacheco possesses an abundance of power in his punches with a current knockout ratio of 72 per cent. He had won nine fights in a row by stoppage until Shawn McCalman took him the 10-round distance in April, 2024 and he’s now gone the distance in four of his last five fights. His biggest pro wins to date have come over Trevor McCumby, Maciej Sulecki, Manuel Coceres, Manuel Gallegos, Jack Cullen, Oscar Riojas, Juan Antonio Mendez, Rodolfo Gomez Jr, Lucas de Abreu, Raul Ortega and Enrique Collazo.

Just one of his 25 opponents entered the ring with a losing record. Pacheco won the vacant WBC USA Super Middleweight Belt in September, 2022 when he stopped Enrique Collazo in the fifth round and captured the vacant WBO International Belt with his fourth-round TKO over Cullen in March, 2023. At 6-feet-4-inches tall Pacheco’s got great height for a super middleweight and also owns a 79-inch reach.

The 32-year-old Aleem, who fights out of Richmond, Virginia enters the ring with a record of 22-4-3 with 14 Ko’s and has boxed 165 rounds since making his pro debut in 2012. As an amateur he reached the semifinals of the 2010 USA Junior National Championships. He stands 5-feet-9-inches tall with a 70-inch reach so gives up seven inches in height and nine inches in reach to Pacheco. Aleem also has pretty good power in his fists as 63.6 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage, including five of his last six.

However he has just six wins, four losses and three draws in his past 13 outings. Aleem’s first defeat came at the hands of Hugo Centeno Jr via a third-round KO in 2017. He then dropped a 10-round majority decision to Ronald Ellis in 2019 and a 10-round majority decision in his next fight to Amilcar Vidal Jr. in 2021. Aleem’s three draws were against Demond Nicholson over eight rounds in 2016; 10 rounds against Matvey Korobov in 2019 and an eight-round technical draw with Winfred Harris in 2024.

In 2017, Aleem captured the vacant WBC Silver Middleweight Belt with a sixth-round TKO over Ievgen Khytrov and in 2024 he won the vacant WBC Fecarbox, and Universal Boxing Organization Continental Super Middleweight Titles by stopping Malcolm Jones in four rounds. Aleem has fought some good opponents over the years but nobody on the elite level really other than possibly Lestyer Martinez and he’s also displayed a pretty solid chin during his career.

Prediction…

Pacheco has the size of a heavyweight and a lot of power in his fists which makes him a great prospect as a super middleweight for as long as he can make the weight. However his career seems to be stagnating a bit. He still has plenty of time to rectify this and a solid showing against Aleem could kickstart his career again. Aleem is a solid pro with enough power to do some damage but is seven years older and has struggled somewhat lately. He also gives up a lot of height and reach. He can’t be taken lightly though despite the wide odds. Pacheco’s size advantages should enable him to nail Aleem on his way in and as long as his chin holds out he should do enough to add another victory to his record. He will likely have to go the distance once again though.

Pacheco’s size and experience should pull him through.
