Khariton Agrba vs Zaur Abdullaev Preview October 10th, 2026

Zaur Abdullaev of Russia takes on Khariton Agrba of Georgia for the vacant WBA Interim Junior Welterweight Title this Saturday, October 10th. The 12-round contest from Russia can probably be found on YouTube this weekend on the IBA RCC boxing channel. Abdullaev was last in the ring in November when he stopped Hugo Alberto Roldan in the sixth round. In his previous fight six months Abdullaev challenged Raymond Muratalla for the Interim IBF Lightweight Crown but dropped a wide unanimous decision. Meanwhile, Agrba’s last outing resulted in a 12-round unanimous decision over Ruben Munoz in a rematch in December. The two first met in July of last year with Munoz stopping Agrba in the second round for his lone pro defeat.

My Pick

The 30-year-old Agrba is a southpaw who resides in Russia, and climbs into the ring with a mark of 17-1 with 9 Ko’s. He turned pro in 2019 and has 122 rounds of experience under his belt since. Agrba enjoyed an extensive amateur career and reportedly boasted a record of 305-16. He won silver medals at the 2019 European Games and the 2019 Boxing World Cup and gold at the 2016 World University Championships and 2018 Strandzha Cup.

He has also been competing in the complicated IBA (International Boxing Association) in Russia. Agrba doesn’t possess explosive power in his punches as 52.9 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he didn’t stop any of his past five opponents. He won the WBA Fedecaribe Welterweight Belt in 2020 by stopping Flavio Cesar Ramos after the third round in just his second pro fight. He added the vacant WBA Continental Super Lightweight Title in his next contest with a 10-round unanimous nod over Manuk Dilanyan.

The next year Agrba captured the vacant IBF European Super Lightweight Belt with a third-round TKO over Petr Petrov and added the vacant Eurasian belt in 2022 via a 10-round unanimous decision over Avak Uzlyan. Finally, in 2024 he won the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Super Lightweight Title by 10-round unanimous decision over Claudio Gabriel Daneff. Agrba has fought outside of Russia just twice as a pro and has yet to take on a legitimate top-ranked opponent.

Abdullaev is 32 years of age and steps into the ring with a mark of 21-2 with 13 Ko’s. He’s Russian-born but resides in Armenia. He measures 5-feet-9-inches tall and unfortunately has an unlisted reach so is just a half-inch shorter than Agrba. Abdullaev also enjoyed a fine amateur career as he won a silver medal at the Russian National Junior Championships in 2010 and the European Youth Championships in 2011. He also made it to the quarterfinals of the Russian National Youth Championships in 2012.

When it comes to power, Abdullaev has a bit more of it than his opponent as 61.9 per cent of his victories have come by stoppage including five of his past seven. Abdullaev turned pro back in 2017 and has 172 rounds of experience under his belt since. His biggest win came in 2022 when he stopped former world champion Jorge Linares in the 12th round. He’s also beaten Roger Gutierrez, Roman Andreev, Dejan Zlaticanin, Humberto Martinez, Jovanni Straffon, Ricardo Nunez, Roberto Gonzales, Ardie Boyose, Deiner Berrio and Hank Lundy.

Abdullaev won the WBO Youth Lightweight Title in 2018 as well as the vacant WBC Silver Lightweight Belt. His first defeat came at the hands of Devin Haney for the WBC Interim World Lightweight Title in September, 2019 as he was stopped after four rounds. His second loss was to Raymond Muratalla two fights ago in May of last year. Abdullaev has faced stiffer opposition as a pro compared to Agrba and then should definitely benefit him this weekend.

Prediction…

Abdullaev and Agrba have enough power to do some damage but neither boxer is known as a heavy hitter. They both excelled as amateurs thanks to their skills and are pretty evenly matched. Abdullaev has the edge when it comes to facing tougher opposition though and that experience may make all the difference in this fight. I’m expecting Abdullaev to emerge with a victory in a very close contest.

Abdullaev’s experience could be the difference.
