O’Shaquie Foster vs Stephen Fulton Preview December 6th 2025

WBC Junior Lightweight Champion O’Shaquie Foster of Orange, Texas defends his belt against former WBA and WBO Bantamweight boss Stephen Fulton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this Saturday, December 6th. Fulton lost both of his titles to Naoya Inoue via an eighth-round stoppage in July, 2023 for his only pro loss but rebounded with a 10-round split decision over Carlos Castro in September, 2024 and a unanimous decision over Brandon Figueroa in a rematch in February to take his WBC Featherweight title. Foster regained his belt in November, 2024 with a split decision over Robson Conceicao in a rematch after losing his title to him via a controversial split decision four months earlier. The 12-rounder from San Antonio, Texas can be seen live on Prime Amazon pay-per-view and PPV.com.

My Pick

The 32-year-old Foster climbs through the ropes with a mark of 23-3 with 12 Ko’s and has boxed 170 rounds since making his pro debut in 2012. He enjoyed a fine amateur career and made it to the 2007 National Silver Gloves Final in the 12/13-year-old division and reached the 2010 USA Junior National Championship Semifinal but lost a couple of times to Joseph Diaz and was also beaten by Oscar Valdez.

As a pro, Foster also captured the WBC Silver Super Featherweight Title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Jon Fernandez in 2018 and took the vacant WBA Fedecentro Super Featherweight Belt in 2019 when he stopped Jesus Bravo in the eighth round. He also has wins over Miguel Roman, Alberto Mercado and Fatiou Fassinou. His other defeats came at the hands of Samuel Teah by eight-round unanimous decision in 2015 and to Rolando Chinea via an eight-round split decision a year later. Foster stands just over 5-feet-8-inches tall with a 72-inch reach and as far as power goes, 52.2 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage.

He was riding a 12-fight winning streak until losing his belt to Conceicao and went the distance in six of those contests prior to stopping Eduardo Hernandez in October, 2023 with his previous stoppage win coming in November, 2020 when he halted Miguel Roman in the ninth round. Foster defended his title twice before losing to Conceicao as he edged Abraham Nova by a split decision and rallied to stop Eduardo Hernandez with 22 seconds left in the fight while behind on two judge’s scorecards in his first defence. Foster beat Rey Vargas by a comfortable unanimous decision to win the vacant belt in February, 2023.

The 31-year-old Fulton has fought 173 rounds since making his pro debut in 2014 and enters the bout with a record of 23-1 with 8 Ko’s. He’s not known as a power puncher or heavy hitter by any means as just 34.8 per cent of his wins have been by stoppage and he’s halted just three of his past 12 opponents. As for his chin, he was stopped by Inoue and dropped by Carlos Castro. Fulton measures just over 5-feet-6-inches tall with a 70.5-inch reach so gives up two inches in height and 1.5-inches in reach to Foster. He’s regarded as a highly-skilled boxer with speed and excellent footwork.

Just one of his first seven opponents had a winning record but since then he’s managed to defeat Brandon Figueroa twice as well as Castro, Danny Roman, Angelo Leo, Joshua Greer Jr, Luis Rosario. Adam Lopez, Jesus Ahumada and German Meraz. Fulton’s amateur record was a reported 75-15 and he also participated in the World Series of Boxing. His first world title triumph came in May, 2019 when he won the IBO World Super Bantamweight Title via a wide 12-round unanimous decision over Paulus Ambunda.

Fulton then captured the WBO Inter-Continental Belt by 12-round unanimous decision over Arnold Khegai in January, 2020. A year later he added the WBO World Title with another unanimous decision, this time over Angelo Leo. Next up, in November, 2021, Fulton added the WBC Belt to his collection when he edged Figueroa by a highly controversial majority decision after being outlanded 314 to 269 and being outpunched 1,060 to 726. In addition, Fulton outlanded Figueroa in just two of the 12 rounds. Of course, those belts were then lost to Inoue in Tokyo but Fulton bounced back with a split decision over Castro and a unanimous nod over Figueroa in his last two fights.

Prediction…

Both Fulton and Foster are slick boxers with below-average power so there’s a good chance this fight goes the full 12 rounds. Foster arguably has the better chin and Fulton is moving up in weight from 126 to 130 lbs. This contest could easily go either way or end in a draw but I have a feeling Foster will do enough to sway the judges his way as he’s used to the heavier weight division.

Foster has the skills, speed, chin to win a close fight.
