Arslanbek Makhmudov vs Dave Allen Preview October 11th, 2025

Hard-hitting but aging heavyweights will be going at it this Saturday, October 11th as Dave Allen of Doncaster, England takes on Arslanbek Makhmudov of Russia. The 12-rounder from Sheffield, England can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Makhmudov, who fights out of Montreal, Canada, last fought in June when he stopped Ricardo Brown in just 111 seconds. In his previous outing in August, 2024 he was halted by Guido Vianello in the eighth round. It was his second defeat in his past four outings as Agit Kabayel stopped him in the fourth round in December, 2023 to lose his NABF, and WBA Inter-Continental Heavyweight Belts. Allen last fought in May when he stopped Johnny Fisher in the fifth round of their rematch. The two first met six months earlier when Fisher won a controversial 10-round split decision after being dropped in the fifth round.

My Pick
The 36-year-old Makhmudov makes the ring walk with a record of 19-3 with 18 Ko’s. There’s no denying his power as 95 per cent of his wins have been by stoppage with Carlos Takam being the only man to last the distance with him and go past the seventh round as well before being stopped. In fact, 12 of his stoppages have come in the very first round. Makhmudov made his pro debut in 2018 and has just 57 rounds of experience under his belt due to his tremendous knockout record and questionable chin.
Before turning pro, he had a fine amateur career and also fought in the World Series of Boxing. Makhmudov stands just over 6-feet-5-inches tall and reportedly has an 80-inch reach. So far, the biggest wins of his career have been against Miljan Rovcanin, Junior Anthony Wright, Michael Wallisch,Takam, Pavel Sour, Jason Bergman, Jonathan Rice, Samuel Peter, Erkan Teper and Mariusz Wach. Since turning pro he’s also captured the NABA, WBC Continental Americas and vacant WBC Silver Heavyweight Crowns.
Allen is now 33 years old and climbs into the squared circle with a mark of 24-7-2 with 19 Ko’s. He made his pro debut in 2012 following his amateur career and has boxed 139 rounds since. He’s got decent size for a heavyweight at 6-feet-3-inches and a 75-inch reach, which means he’s two inches shorter than his opponent and gives up five inches in reach. Allen’s biggest wins have been against former heavyweight belt holder Lucas Browne of Australia when he stopped him in the third round in April, 2019 and his recent stoppage of Johnny Fisher.
His other six losses have been to David Price when he was stopped after 10 rounds in 2019; Tony Yoka by 10th-round stoppage in 2018; a 12-round split decision to Lenroy Thomas in 2017 for the vacant Commonwealth Heavyweight Crown; an eighth-round stoppage to Luis Ortiz in 2016; a 10-round unanimous decision to Dillian Whyte five months earlier in a shot at the vacant WBC International Heavyweight Title and a sixth-round stoppage to Frazer Clarke in 2023 when Allen had to pack it in on the stool after suffering a perforated eardrum.
His two draws were against Plamen Nikolov over four rounds in 2014 and a technical draw with Lenroy Thomas in 2018 for the Commonwealth Title. As we can see, Allen hasn’t had too much success when facing upper-class boxers such as Whyte and Ortiz and he hasn’t beaten anybody on the world level but Fisher hasn’t proven himself as of yet. Allen has a pair of pretty heavy hands as well as 79.2 per cent of his wins have come by way of stoppage and so have 14 of his past 16 victories. But on the other side of the coin, his chin isn’t the greatest as he’s been halted in four of his six defeats.
Prediction…
Both of these guys usually come out swinging and so far it’s been a relatively successful tactic for them due to their power. In this type of fight, the winner is often determined on who lands the first heavy shot and it could all be over in the first round. I’m expecting a brawl and somebody is likely to hit the deck here because of the power and questionable chins. Who that’s going to be is a tossup but I feel Makhmudov has the edge in power and I’m leaning towards him in an exciting bout.
I’ll give Makhmudov the slight edge.
