My Pick
Hernandez, who fights out of Providence, Rhode Island, is 29 years old and enters the contest with a perfect record of 10-0 with 9 Ko’s. He’s boxed 48 rounds since making his pro debut in 2022 following a successful amateur career. As an amateur he won the 2021 and 2023 IBA World Championships as a middleweight and the 2022 Cologne World Cup Tournament. As a pro, he’s currently ranked number one by the WBA and number four by The Ring Magazine.
There’s obviously plenty of power in Hernandez’s attack as 90 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. He’s gone the distance just once as a pro and that was in May, 2025 when he beat Kyrone Davis by a shutout over 10 rounds and also dropped him in the second round. However, Davis and Terrell Gausha are likely the only opponents of Hernandez that most boxing fans will recognize. Unfortunately he’s not really taking a step up in class this weekend. Hernandez is a big middleweight as he stands 6-feet-2-inches with a 74.5-inch reach.
The 27-year-old Veron will climb through the ropes with a mark of 17-1-1 with 10 Ko’s. He’s also quite tall for a middleweight at 6-feet-1-inches and gives up an inch in height to Hernandez. Unfortunately he has an unlisted reach though. As far as power is concerned, 58.8 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. However he’s gone the distance in his last seven fights and has a record of 5-1-1 over that span.
Veron, who fights out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has boxed 102 rounds since making his pro debut in 2020 following an extensive amateur career. He boxed as a middleweight at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan where he won his first bout and lost his second contest. His lone pro defeat came at the hands of Brandon Adams by 10-round unanimous decision in 2024 while his draw was an eight-round affair with Jahi Tucker a year earlier. Veron also has wins over Vladimir Hernandez and Roiman Villa.
Prediction…
Hernandez is well known for his power while Veron is more of a boxer. However if Hernandez doesn’t knock his opponent out he has the skills to outbox them. This gives him the edge in this fight and while Veron should put up a good battle, I’m expecting Hernandez to improve to 11-0 but he may have to go the distance to do it.
Hernandez combines power with skill.
