Jaron Ennis vs Uisma Lima Preview October 11th, 2025

Unbeaten former IBF Welterweight Champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania takes on Uisma Lima of Angola in Ennis’ hometown this Saturday, October 112th. The 12-rounder is being billed as a WBA Junior Middleweight Eliminator as Ennis moves up to the 154 lb division for the first time. The fight can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Ennis stopped Roiman Villa in the 10th round in 2023 and was then promoted to full champion. He halted David Avanesyan after five rounds in his first defence, then beat Karen Chukhadzhian by unanimous decision in a rematch in November, 2024 before stopping former world champion Eimantas Stanionis after the sixth round in his last outing in April. Lima last saw action in May when he stopped Shervantaigh Koopman in the ninth round to defend his IBO Junior Middleweight Title.

My Pick

Ennis is a fine 28-year-old former champion who enters the ring with a perfect mark of 34-0 with 30 Ko’s and obviously has a lot of pop in his punches with a current knockout ratio of 88.2 per cent. The only four men to take him the distance were Eddie Diaz who went four rounds in 2016; James Winchester, who took him six rounds the following year and Karen Chukhadzhian who went 12 rounds in 2023 and again in 2024. Ennis stands 5-feet-10-inches tall with a 74-inch wingspan and has boxed just 124 rounds in his 34 fights since making his pro debut back in 2016.

He started boxing at the age of 15 and enjoyed a superb amateur career with a reported mark of 58-3. Ennis was a 2014 US National Golden Gloves Silver Medalist in Las Vegas; a 2015 USA Youth National Championships Gold Medalist in Reno; a 2015 US National Golden Gloves Tournament Gold Medalist in Las Vegas; a 2015 US Olympic Trials Qualifier Gold Medalist in Baltimore and a 2015 US Olympic Trials participant in Reno.

In 2018 he won the vacant WBC (USNBC) Silver Welterweight Title with a third-round stoppage over Armando Alvarez. As a pro, Ennis has also beaten the likes of Thomas Dulorme, Sergey Lipinets, Elvin Perez, James Winchester, Wilfredo Acuna, Mike Arnaoutis, and Juan Carlos Abreu. His bout with Chris van Heerden in 2020 was called a no-decision when Van Heerden was cut in the first round from an accidental clash of heads.

The 32-year-old Lima resides in Portugal and makes the ring walk with a mark of 14-1 with 10 Ko’s He made his pro debut in 2019 and has boxed just 81 rounds since then. He has pretty good power as 71.4 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage but he’s gone the distance in three of his past five fights. Lima measures 5-feet-11-inches tall with a 74-inch reach which gives him an inch edge in height on Ennis with the same reach.

The lone defeat on Lima’s record came at the hands of Aaron McKenna in June, 2023 when he dropped a 10-round unanimous decision in a shot at the vacant WBC International Middleweight Title. He captured the IBF Inter-Continental Junior Middleweight Belt in April, 2024 when he stopped Haro Matevosyan after 10 rounds and added the vacant IBO Junior Middleweight Crown in his next fight in December, 2024 via a 12-round unanimous decision over Sukhdeep Singh Bhatti. Lima has never faced a legitimate contender and is taking a gigantic leap in class this weekend against Ennis.

Prediction…

Ennis has plenty of boxing skills and power while Lima is basically an unknown but he has been fighting as a junior middleweight and middleweight during his career while Ennis is moving up in weight. Still, this looks to be a mismatch on paper and it’s likely going to be a mismatch in the ring. Lima comes in second best to Ennis in just about every meaningful department here but Ennis should win this fight by stoppage. The best bet to make here is which round Ennis will halt him in.

Ennis’ skills, speed and power will decide it.
