Mark Jeffers vs Willy Hutchinson Preview October 4th, 2025

There’s a good light heavyweight tilt set for Glasgow, Scotland this October 4th when local lad Willy Hutchinson takes on Northern Ireland’s Mark Jeffers. The 10-rounder can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Hutchinson last saw action in September, 2024 when he dropped an exciting 12-round split decision to Joshua Buatsi in a shot at the WBO Interim Title. Hutchinson was dropped in the sixth and ninth rounds and was deducted a point in the seventh stanza for headbutting. In his previous outing, Hutchinson beat Craig Richards via a 12-round unanimous decision for the vacant WBC Silver Light Heavyweight Crown. Jeffers’ last fight resulted in a 10-round majority decision loss to Sean Hemphill in June for his lone pro defeat.

My Pick
The 27-year-old Jeffers resides in Chorley, England and carries around a fine mark of 20-1 with 7 Ko’s and has fought 113 rounds since making his pro debut in 2016. As an amateur he fought in 2013 Great Britain Junior Championships and was a two-time ABA National Champion. Since turning pro he captured the vacant British Central Area Super Middleweight Belt in 2020 when he halted Ben Thomas in the fourth round. He added the vacant WBO Global Super Middleweight Title in 2021 with a 10-round unanimous decision over Michel Garcia.
Jeffers then beat Zak Chelli by 10-round unanimous decision in 2023 for the English Super Middleweight Title and defended it against Germaine Browne by 10-round unanimous decision. Jeffers measures 6-feet-tall with an unlisted reach and doesn’t have much in the way of power as just 35 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. However he shouldn’t be taken too lightly as his last three victories have been by stoppage as he halted Darren Johnstone, Joshua Quartey and Ricardo Lara. Just one of Jeffers’ first 12 opponents had a winning record but eight have his past nine have entered the ring with a winning mark.
Hutchinson is also 27 years old and boasts a record of 18-2 with 13 Ko’s. He turned pro back in 2017 and has boxed 86 rounds since. As an amateur he won gold medals at the European Junior Championships in 2014 and the Youth World Championships in 2016. Hutchinson became the first Scottish boxer to win a gold medal at an amateur World Championship. He stands 6-feet-1-inch tall but also has an unlisted reach so is an inch taller than Jeffers.
As far as power is concerned, Hutchinson has a lot more of it than Jeffers as 72.2 per cent of his victories have come by stoppage including four of his last five. His first defeat was a fifth-round TKO at the hands of Lennox Clarke in a shot at the vacant British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight Titles in 2021 and he also lost his last contest when Joshua Buatsi beat him. After moving up to light heavyweight, Hutchinson has captured the WBC International Title as well as the WBC Silver Belt.
Prediction…
Hutchinson has fought as a light heavyweight since 2021 while Jeffers has more or less been campaigning as a super middleweight and has never weighted in more than 171.75 lbs. Jeffers has found some power recently as his last three wins have been by stoppage. Both boxers have fine chins and this should be a close fight but I believe if Hutchinson is at his best he should do enough to come out with a win.
Hutchinson is more used to the 175 lb division.
