Gabriela Fundora vs Marilyn Badillo Preview April 19th, 2025

Undefeated and undisputed Flyweight Champion Gabriela ‘Sweet Poison’ Fundora of Palm Beach, Florida will be defending her belts (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF) this Saturday, April 19th when she meets unbeaten Marilyn Badillo of Mexico. The 10-round bout from Oceanside, California, can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Fundora captured the IBF title in October, 2023 when she stopped Arely Mucino in the fifth round and defended it three months later by halting Christina Cruz in the 10th round. She then beat Daniela Asenjo by decision last August and became the undisputed champ by stopping Gabriela Celeste Alaniz in the seventh round in November. Badillo last saw action in December when she beat Graiela Cortes Aguilar by an eight-round unanimous decision.

- Marilyn Badillo +1800
- Gabriela Fundora -10000
My Pick
Fundora just turned 23 years old and is the youngest undisputed champion in boxing. She carries around a perfect record of 15-0 with 7 Ko’s to her name for a current knockout ratio of 46.7 per cent. She’s boxed 94 rounds since making her pro debut in 2021 after an amateur career which saw her reach the semifinals of the 2018 USA Youth Women’s National Championships. She also won the 2018 USA Women’s Junior Olympics Final and 2017 USA Women’s Junior Open Final. Fundora is the sister of current WBC and WBO Junior Middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora.
Gabriela, who fights out of Coachella, California, is a southpaw who stands 5-feet-9-inches with a reported 69-inch reach and has stopped three of her past four opponents. She won the vacant WBC Latino Flyweight Crown in October, 2022 with a 10-round unanimous decision over Naomi Arrelano Reyes and added the vacant WBC Youth Flyweight Belt four months later with another 10-round unanimous decision, this time over Tania Garcia Hernandez. She also has wins over Nataly Delgado, Estrella Velverde, Lucia Hernandez Nunez and Maria Michio Santizo.
Badillo is 25 years old and makes the ring walk with a near-perfect mark of 19-0-1 with 3 Ko’s and has 122 rounds of experience under her belt since turning pro in 2017 as a teenager. She measures 5-feet-3-inches tall with a 65-inch wingspan so gives up six inches in height to Fundora as well as four inches in reach. As far as power goes though, she has very little of it as just 15.8 per cent of her victories have come by stoppage and she’s gone the distance in her past five contests. The lone blemish on Badillo’s record is a six-round draw with Linda Contreras Ibarra in November, 2019.
She captured the WBC International Flyweight Title in March, 2024 via a 10-round unanimous decision over Tania Garcia Hernandez. She then defended the belt four months later by 10-round unanimous decision over Alma Meraz Rodriguez and those are the only two times she’s fought 10 rounds. Just nine of Badillo’s 20 opponents have entered the ring with a winning record so she’s taking a big step up in class against Fundora this Saturday night.
Prediction…
Badillo is a young, unbeaten boxer but she lacks power and is quite a bit smaller than Fundora, who has very good power for the female division. Fundora has all of the advantages here edges here but the fight should be competitive for the first few rounds. The odds may be a bit too wide here at -10,000 but I see Fundora retaining her belt and a stoppage is also a good possibility.
Fundora is younger with much more power.
