Minnesota @ Illinois (Week 11 Preview & Prediction)

The Gophers (5-4) of head coach Jerry Kill take to the road this week after a tough home loss to Michigan. This game is big for the Gophers as they are looking for that elusive sixth win to claim bowl eligibility and extend the season for a young team that would make good use of the additional practice time for bowl prep. The Illini (2-7) have been getting pasted and find themselves of losers of six straight games. Coach Tim Beckman is probably wishing he would have stayed at Toledo who is turning in a solid season.

Gopher true freshman QB Philip Nelson has shined since his first start at Wisconsin three weeks ago. Completing 54% of his passes while passing for (537) yards and six touchdowns. The steady play has come from an aggressive Gopher defense that will be looking to close the door on an Illinois offense that has had trouble gaining any consistency. The real enigma for the Illini has been QB Nathan Scheelhase a promising QB who appears to be having trouble grasping the new offensive attack.

Minnesota (-3) @ Illinois (Betting Prediction)

I am surprised this line is only a FG difference. When you look into the series you will see that Illinois has not defeated the Gophers at home since 2001. The Gophers are 6-2 SU and ATS over the last eight contests in this series. Illinois has allowed no less than (31) points a game over their seven losses and find themselves 1-11 SU and ATS off back to back SU losses versus a conference off a double digit straight up loss. There is only one way to go here, you know what to do. Prediction: Gophers 27 Illini 17

My record to date is: 7-9
