Clemson @ Boston College (Week 5 Betting Line & Prediction)
Last week on this page I featured #17 Clemson (2-1) plus the points at Florida State and came out a winner getting (+12.5) or (+13) depending on where you shopped. Florida State proved their mettle and will have a solid season but the Tigers control their own fate and are a very dangerous squad. The Tigers who acquitted themselves nicely in a hostile environment on national television last Saturday night now have to answer the bell against a rested (1-2) Boston College team that had last week off.
The Eagles are coming off a 22-13 loss at Northwestern and have had problems getting their offense in gear averaging just (26.3) points per contest. The Eagle attack led by QB Chase Rettig is (#118) in rushing averaging (95) yards a game. The Tiger defense gave up (677) yards of offense to the Seminoles last week but the talent gap between the Eagles and Seminoles is very wide. Tiger QB Tajh Boyd threw for (237) yards against what will be considered the strongest defense they face all season. The game changers at flanker for the Tigers in Sammy Watkins and DeAndre Hopkins have a decided advantage over the Eagle defensive secondary.
Clemson (-9.5) @ Boston College (Betting Prediction)
Boston College will come out sky high Saturday as the Tigers invade Chestnut Hill. Boston College head coach Frank Spaziani is feeling the heat and his staunch supporter current athletic director Gene DeFilippo is retiring Sunday. You will see an inspired effort from the Eagles early on but this is a mismatch in the speed and athleticism department.
Tajh Boyd will have his way with a defensive front that struggles to get pressure into the backfield. The weapons on the outside with Watkins and Hopkins will allow the Tigers to dice up the Eagles in the running game with speed burner Andre Ellington inside the tackles. There are also some decided advantages for the visitor. The Tigers are 9-3 ATS in their last (12) conference games and Boston College on the other hand is 4-12 ATS in their last (16) home games and worse yet are 2-8 ATS in their last (10) games in September. Coach Spaziani is walking a thin line with game preparation and trying to build a tenuous recruiting class There is only one way to go in this one lay the points with the visiting Tigers. Prediction: Tigers 34 Eagles 16
