Clemson @ Florida State (Week 4 Betting Line and Prediction)
There will be a lot at stake in primetime on Saturday night in Tallahassee as the two ACC favorites hook up in what should be one of the better games of the day as #4 Florida State plays host to #10 Clemson. The Florida State defense is very good but has not played against an offense with a pulse until this Saturday. Tiger QB Tajh Boyd has really developed and runs the controls for a very diverse offensive attack. Boyd’s offensive weapons include a pair of dynamic receivers in DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins who can really get separation in the secondary. The Seminoles will counter with highly touted QB EJ Manuel and proven RB Chris Thompson along with flankers Kenny Shaw and Kalvin Benjamin. The real issue for Clemson so far has been the inability to get to the QB as they have registered only (3) sacks so far this season. The Tigers currently rank 84th versus the run and that could spell trouble on the road.
While Clemson can hang their hat on a 35-30 season opening win over Auburn, the Seminoles have piled up numbers on the likes of Murray State, Savannah State and Wake Forest. It’s hard to know exactly how soon it will take the Seminoles to settle in as they are two touchdown favorites coming in. The one wildcard in this contest will be how each offensive line performs. Both teams like to play man press coverage on the outside and bring the blitz from the inside, expect big plays in the passing game from both teams.
Clemson (+14) @ Florida State Betting Prediction
This game is going to be a fun one to watch and you will see some real athleticism on both sides of the football. This game will come down to turnovers and should be fairly tight throughout. I am kind of shocked that Clemson with their veteran offense is a two touchdown underdog which always leaves open the possibility of a backdoor cover late. Florida State is at home and will win this game by using some ball control offense on the ground and should win the time of possession battle. A solid play here is to grab the points and look for the key turnover that will swing the outcome one way or another. FSU is 1-6 ATS versus Clemson over the last seven contests. Take the visitor plus the points. Prediction: Seminoles 33 Tigers 24
