Cincinnati @ Louisville (Week 9 Preview & Prediction)

One of College Football’s historic rivalries kicks off Friday night as the #16 BCS squad Louisville (7-0) hosts (5-1) Cincinnati with the Keg of Nails trophy on the line. The first meeting took place in 1929. The electric and entertaining Cardinals of Coach Charlie Strong are coming off a tight 27-25 victory over visiting South Florida. The Bearcats enter off their first loss a 29-23 contest at Toledo. Coach Butch Jones has the Bearcats playing a good brand of football. This will be the marquee matchup in the Big East this weekend.

The Bearcats are led by QB Munchie Legaux who has averaged (239) yards passing and (44) rushing yards per game. Tailback George Winn is putting up (101) yards per game on the ground and is averaging (6.3) per carry. Legaux has only completed (96) passes but when looking downfield his two favorite targets are Thompkins (18) receptions for (276) yards and Julian (14) catches for (243) yards.

The Cardinals showcase sensational sophomore QB Teddy Bridgewater who is completing an astounding (73.4%) of his passes and has thrown for (1,694) yards and (11) touchdowns. The backfield has balance with Senorise Perry (613) yards rushing and Jeremy Wright (497) yards on the ground. Bridgewater has completed double digit passes to eight different receivers. Copeland leads the way with (23) reception for an for an (11.4) yard average.

Cincinnati @ Louisville (-3.5) (Betting Prediction)

This is a great Friday night contest and both teams deserve this national opportunity on Espn. The Bearcats have won the last four contests in this series including last year’s 25-16 victory. I feel like going contrarian on this pick here, many thought the Cardinals would lose at Pittsburgh two weeks ago and I had the Cardinals on this page picked to cover and I am going back to the well one more time.

Coach Strong is 20-4 when scoring more than (20) points in a contest, they will get there in this game. In game #8 the Cardinals are 7-0 when favorites of more than 3 points and are 44-20-1 ATS since 1980 in that role. In contrast, the Bearcats are 2-7 ATS when taking on a conference foe with revenge. Prediction: Cardinals 30 Bearcats 17

PLAY: LOUISVILLE -3.5

Season record to date: 8-9.
