My Pick
Baumgardner is 31 years old, resides in Detroit and makes her ring walk with a mark of 17-1 with 7 Ko’s. She made her pro debut in 2017 and has boxed 112 rounds since. Her lone defeat as a pro came to Christine Linardatou by way of an eight-round split decision in July, 2018 when she lost the WBC International Super Featherweight Title. She then avenged that defeat with her unanimous decision over Linardatou in 2023. Baumgardner had won the vacant belt two fights earlier with an eight-round unanimous decision over Nydia Feliciano.
Baumgardner stopped Terri Harper in the fourth round in November, 2021 to win the WBC and IBO Super Featherweight Titles. She edged Mikaela Mayer by controversial split decision in October, 2022 to add the IBF and WBO Belts. In September, 2024, her fight with Delfine Persoon was called off in the fourth round and called a no contest as Persoon was cut due to an accidental head clash after being dropped in the first round. Baumgardner is now riding an 11-fight winning streak.
She was the undisputed super featherweight champion but vacated the WBC Belt last September as she wanted to fight three-minute rounds, which the WBC currently forbids for female boxers. Baumgardner enjoyed a successful amateur as she won a silver medal at the 2014 National Golden Gloves as a welterweight and a gold at the 2014 US National Boxing Championships as a lightweight. She stands 5-feet-6-inches tall with a 66-inch reach. As far as power goes, she’s above average in female boxing with 41.2 per cent of her wins coming by stoppage but has gone the distance in her last six official fights and in 11 of the past 14.
The 32-year-old Bo Mi Re Shin hails from Seoul and climbs through the ropes with a mark of 19-3-3 with 10 Ko’s. She made her pro debut in 2016 and has boxed 153 rounds since. She measures 5-feet-6-inches tall, the same as Baumgardner, but unfortunately has an unlisted reach. When it comes to power, she arguably possesses more than the champion as 52.6 per cent of her victories have come by stoppage. She’s gone the distance in her last three outings though and in five of her past seven.
Bo Mi Re Shin has tasted defeat three times with her first loss coming at the hands of Thi Linh Tran by six-round unanimous decision in 2020. She then dropped a 10-round split decision to Delfine Persoon in a shot at the WBC Silver Super Featherweight Belt in 2023 and was edged by Caroline Dubois via a 10-round majority nod in an attempt at the WBC Lightweight Title in March, 2025. As far as her three four-round draws go, Bo Mi Re Shin actually alternated between wins and draws in her first six pro outings by winning one and then drawing.
The South Korean boxer captured the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight Title in 2022 by stopping Chandni Mehra in eight rounds. She added the vacant WBC International Super Featherweight Belt the same year with a 10-round unanimous decision over Iranda Paola Torres and defended it twice against Aka Ringo by sixth-round TKO and against Diana Rodriguez via a 10-round unanimous decision.
Prediction…
Baumgardner actually comes in second best to Bo Mi Re Shin when it comes to power but she has the better all-round boxing skills. Baumgardner’s beaten some tough opposition as a pro but she can’t afford to take her opponent lightly here. Bo Mi Re Shin has come out on the wrong end of her biggest fights when moving up in class with her close decision losses to Delfine Persoon and Caroline Dubois. However, she gave both women all they could handle and proved that she belongs in the ring with the best. Unfortunately I believe she’ll give Baumgardner a stiff test but will fall just short once again.
Baumgardner possesses the better skills and more experience against top-class opposition.
