Lewis Edmondson vs Lyndon Arthur Preview June 20th, 2026

Lyndon Arthur of Manchester, England returns to the ring this Saturday, June 20th to take on fellow countryman Lewis Edmondson in Edmondson’s hometown of Southampton. The 12-round light heavyweight battle is for Arthur’s European Title and the vacant Commonwealth Belt. The fight can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Arthur last fought in November when he beat Bradley Rea by 12-round majority decision for the European Crown even though he was dropped in the second round. In his previous outing in April he dropped a 12-round unanimous decision to Anthony Yarde. It was the third meeting between Yarde and Arthur as Arthur won a 12-round split decision in 2020 to retain his Commonwealth Title and win the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight Belt. Yarde took the rematch in 2021 though when he stopped Arthur in the fourth round to take both of those belts. Edmondson was last in the ring in July when he lost a 10-round majority decision to Daniel Lapin for the IBF Continental and the vacant WBO International Light Heavyweight Crowns. It has been Edmondson’s lone defeat as a pro.

My Pick
The 30-year-old Edmondson climbs into the ring with a mark of 11-1 with 3 Ko’s and has boxed 76 rounds since turning pro back in 2019 following a pretty good amateur career which saw him fight in the 2013 Great Britain Youth Championships and reportedly compile a record of 52 wins in 60 fights. Edmondson measures 6-feet-1-inch tall but has an unlisted reach. He lacks serious power though as just 33.3 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he last halted an opponent in 2022, which was seven fights ago when he stopped Edgars Sniedze in the fifth round.
He won the vacant British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight Titles in October, 2024 with a majority decision over Dan Azeez and defended the Commonwealth Belt against Oluwatosin Kejawa five months later via a unanimous nod. He also has wins over John Telford, Luke Blackledge and Joel McIntyre. Edmondson has a pretty solid chin which helps out due to his lack of power.
Arthur is now 35 years old and he makes his ring entrance with a mark of 25-3 with 16 Ko’s and has boxed 161 rounds since making his pro debut in 2016 following his amateur career. Since then he captured the vacant British Commonwealth Light Heavyweight Title in October, 2019 via a 12-round unanimous decision over Emmanuel Amin. He defended it against Doc Spelman by unanimous decision before beating Anthony Yarde by 12-round split decision in December, 2020 to add the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Crown.
He defended the WBO belt with a ninth-round TKO over Davide Faraci but then lost both of his titles when he was halted by Yarde in the fourth round of their 2021 rematch. Arthur bounced back from his first pro defeat with TKO wins over Walter Sequiria (5th rd) and Joel McIntyre (2nd rd) before beating Boris Crighton on points over 10 rounds and then stopping Braian Suarez for the vacant IBO Belt. In December, 2023 Arthur lost that title in his first defence when he dropped a unanimous decision to Dmitrii Bivol.
Arthur used his boxing skills to upset Yarde in a close split decision in their first meeting but couldn’t handle his power in the rematch and lost a close call in their third bout. As far as power is concerned, Arthur is above average as 64 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage but he’s gone the distance in five of his past six fights. He has a decent chin even though Yarde halted him and he stands 6-feet-2-inches with a 74-inch reach which gives him an inch height advantage on Edmondson.
Prediction…
Arthur is a solid pro but is now 35 years old. He’s faced stiffer competition than Edmondson has and also has more pop in his punches. Still, this should be a close fight which could go either way but I think Arthur will edge it out as long as he puts all of his tools to good use.
Arthur’s experience should do the trick.
