My Pick

Baumgardner is 31 years old, resides in Detroit and makes her ring walk with a mark of 15-1 with 7 Ko’s. She made her pro debut in 2017 and has boxed 90 rounds since. Her lone loss as a pro came to Christine Linardatou by way of an eight-round split decision in July, 2018 when she lost the WBC International Super Featherweight Title. Of course, she avenged that defeat with her unanimous decision over Linardatou in 2023. Baumgardner had won the vacant belt two fights earlier with an eight-round unanimous decision over Nydia Feliciano. Baumgardner stopped Terri Harper in the fourth round in November, 2021 to win the WBC and IBO Super Featherweight Titles.

She edged Mikaela Mayer by controversial split decision in October, 2022 to add the IBF and WBO Belts and is now riding a nine-fight winning streak. She turned pro after an amateur career which saw her win a silver medal at the 2014 National Golden Gloves as a welterweight and a gold at the 2014 US National Boxing Championships as a lightweight. She stands 5-feet-6-inches tall with a 66-inch reach. As far as power goes, she’s far above average in the female version of the sport with 46.7 per cent of her wins coming by stoppage but has gone the distance in her last four official fights and nine of the past 12.

The 38-year-old Miranda climbs through the ropes with a perfect mark of 12-0 with 1 Ko. She made her pro debut in 2018 and has boxed 87 rounds since. She recently fought in the professional Team Combat League following her amateur career. She’s listed as the current WBA Interim World Champion and started boxing at the age of 23 while attending university. As an amateur she was a Spanish national champion for nine straight years and captured several international titles.

Miranda won the vacant Spanish Featherweight Belt in her second pro contest with an eight-round unanimous decision over Jessica Sanchez beat Vanesa Caballero by eight-round unanimous decision in her next outing to become the first Spanish woman to defend a Spanish National Title. Miranda was named the WBA’s Gold Champion before fighting Teresa Almengor in her most recent bout last October and the win gave her the WBA Interim Belt.

If she looks familiar, it’s because Miranda is also an actress and plays ‘Arteche’ in the Netflix series Money Heist. Miranda is 5-feet-6-inches tall with an unlisted reach so is the same height as Baumgardner. She certainly doesn’t match the champion in power though as just one of Miranda’s wins came by stoppage, which was a third-round KO over Kalina Nikolova in 2021. Miranda competed in the Team combat league in America but all of her pro boxing bouts have been in Spain.

Prediction…

Baumgardner is seven years younger than Miranda and much more powerful. She has experience against better opposition as a pro as well even though Miranda met Katie Taylor in the amateurs and lost on points. Baumgardner’s beaten some tough opposition but can’t afford to take Miranda lightly or lose focus during the fight. However, I believe Baumgardner will get the win here and retain her titles.

Baumgardner is seven years younger with much more power.
