UFC 183 Betting Tips – Free Picks

By MMA

We’ve already taken a look at the main event of the upcoming pay-per-view, UFC 183. Now let’s take a moment and highlight some other key matchups that night.

Ian McCall vs. John Linekermccall lineker

Ian McCall vs. John Lineker may be the most overlooked matchup on this card. The winner of this fight is probably next in line for a shot at the title against the champion, Demetrious Johnson. John Lineker is huge for the flyweight division. He has a well documented history of missing weight in the past. Lineker has the heaviest hands in the division (he won his last fight via KO), but I look for McCall to use his movement and wrestling to outpace Lineker. Lineker cuts too much weight in order make the 125 pound limit, if he isn’t able to end the fight early then I see him gassing in the later rounds.

 Miesha Tate vs. Sara McMann

Both Tate and McMann are very unfortunate that they’re living through the era of Ronda Rousey. Either of these girls could be a champion in another era. Miesha Tate I believe has the more well rounded skill set, but McMann has elite level wrestling. Tate has struggled a bit in the past with wrestlers who aren’t even close to the same caliber as McMann. Even in Tate’s recent victory over Liz Carmouche she had a bit of trouble with being taken down. I look for McMann to take Tate down and control the fight on the mat.

Joe Lauzon vs. Al IaquintaJim Miller vs Joe Lauzon

Lauzon vs. Iaquinta is my early prediction for fight of the night. Lauzon is a fan favorite who always leaves it all in the octagon. Iaquinta is a lesser known prospect, but he’s very talented in his own right. I think this is the most evenly matched fight of the night and could go either way, but I am fairly certain that it won’t be won via decision. Both fighters always put forth 100% effort and constantly look for the finish.

Pick Fight Doesn’t Go to Decision -150 @5dimes

Kelvin Gastelum vs. Tyron Woodley

Many people were surprised when the odds came out for this fight with Gastelum as the favorite. Woodley has much more experience against high level opposition in both Strikeforce and the UFC. Gastelum has came a long way since his huge upset over Uriah Hall to win The Ultimate Fighter. Gastelum has improved dramatically in every fight so far; he was initially thought of as only a wrestler, but he has shown great improvement in his boxing game recently. Gastelum is coming off the biggest win of his career, dispatching Jake Ellenberger in the first round. I see no reason to believe Gastelum won’t show improvement once again. I look for Gastelum to use his superior cardio, improved boxing, and wrestling to overcome Woodley.

Pick Kelvin Gastelum -120 @5dimes
