UFC 166 Main Card Betting Tips

By MMA

Good day once again fight fans. Saturday’s blockbuster card is that of a huge one with the big boys themselves, yes, the 3rd meeting between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos for the heavyweight crown. Here are my picks for UFC 166 in Houston Texas.

All the odds are from online sportsbook BetOnline.ag.

The Main Card

Cain Velasquez vs. Junior dos Santos

Seeing as this is a rubber match, the fight can technically go in either of the heavyweight’s favor. Although JDS is stating that he was suffering from a virus in the 2nd bout, and that his wrestling is where it needs to be in this fight, I still have a difficult time betting against Velasquez . The former champ is surely capable of winning the title back with a first round knockout, but Cain just seems to overwhelming for anyone in that division at the present time. Pick: Velasquez -200

Cormier v Nelson

Here we have a fight that perhaps can become a barnburner, slugfest, or even a puncher’s brawl. But chances are that it won’t. Everyone knows Cormier is going utilize his wrestling from start to finish. And because of that I see us having a three round bout going to a decision. Cormier is the pick for this one folks. Pick: Cormier -550

Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez

Here we have a fight of the night candidate. Two very amped up fighters that never quit pushing forward. This calls for one intense bout. Because Diego tends to get himself caught by something or other in high intense fights. And because Melendez’ technique seems to be more crisp, I see Melendez either walking away with a 3rd round TKO or a three round decision win over Sanchez. Pick: Melendez -700

Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Shawn Jordan

Bring on some more heavyweights. Here we have a beast in Shawn Jordan, and I believe the fire that still resides in Gonzaga. The question is how will this one end? Although the oddsmakers have this bout for Jordan, I predict Gonzaga pulling off a win. I say Gonzaga by either KO (1st rounds) or submission (2nd). Pick: Gonzaga +165

John Dodson vs. Darrell Montague

From heavyweight to flyweight, the main card begins with speed and excitement. The past has shown us that the flyweight division is somewhat unpredictable. The lack of finishes has brought criticism from all types. Dobson is arguably one of the best and most consistent in the division. And for that this pick is an easy one. Pick: Dodson -340
