Good morning MMA nation, UFC 161 is finally upon us! Let’s get straight to my picks…
Evans vs Henderson
The odds for this interesting bout have it almost even. Considering the last performance from both contenders in this bout it doesn’t come as a shocker. Although many analysts have Evans edging out Henderson in a 5 round grappling bout my pick is that Henderson comes out on top. Because of Henderson’s long resume of grooling fights and his want to win attitude, I have him taking Evans in 5 rounds. Evans has failed to show his desire to win since his title fight with Johnny Bones Jones. Also, Evans has yet to show what the “Blackzillians” camp has done for him, except have him just rumble around the octagon for several uneventful rounds. So with this you should be betting Henderson in a decision win over Evans this Saturday.

Nelson vs Miocic
This is an interesting bout showcasing two of the UFC’s top heavyweights. For the one, Miocic, is looking to jump into a top 10 ranking following a win at UFC 161. Nelson, also looks to jump into free agency with momentum on his side with a big win in Winnipeg. This matchup has me agreeing with the oddsmakers. Nelson’s experience and wrestling ability will grind him a victory this Saturday night. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Nelson pulls off a 2nd round TKO, with his heavy overhand power to put this one away. With that said, my pick is Nelson taking this one in 2 rounds by knockout or tko.

Jimmo vs Pokrajac
This one fight fans is a no brainer. Jimmo is a rising star in the UFC’s middleweight division. Jimmo finds himself in the grey area between fighting top ten contenders to lower level middleweights. In this bout we have an extremely talented Jimmo, facing off against a hungry lower ranked middleweight Pokrajac. You should pick Jimmo for the win, and if you are eager to call this one, then a 3rd round submission will probably be your best bet.

Davis vs Sexton
And now we turn to the ladies of UFC 161. Ladies as of yet have done all but disappoint in the UFC. The 135 division has delivered all be excitement and adrenaline. This bout I expect nothing less. This fight has the ability to be a barn-burner, but realistically, probably won’t be. Davis has shown to be a submission expert and the reach she has over her opponent in this one will aid her in avoiding to be knocked out. My pick is Davis by submission.

Barry vs Jordan
The odds makers have it decided by name in this one folks. Barry is the favored fighter, and if it remains standing it should be his fight. But, this is MMA and chances are this is going to the ground at some point. If so, Jordan has the advantage in that area. Although I would say this fight is 50/50 chances, I take Jordan edging out Barry in a 3 round fight.
