Washington Nationals vs. Baltimore Orioles July 11 Free Pick

By MLB

The Sox and Fish push the under in our bid for a fourth straight dub to start July. That’s ok. The streak is still alive and we’ve got two of our favorite guys going in an in-state interleague rivalry game on Saturday. The Nationals visit Camden Yards to take on the O’s. But the question is what in the world do we do when Jordan Zimmermann meets Miguel Gonzalez?

Luckily we’ve stayed away from Miguel over the last couple weeks. He turned in a good outing his last time out in a win over the White Sox but he got tossed around a little bit in the two prior. He gave up a combined 10 earned runs in just over nine innings pitched when he went up to Fenway Park and then hosted the Texas Rangers. Is there anything to the tough outings aside from the fact that every pitcher gets hit once and a while? Probably not. Gonzalez should still be typical Gonzalez and that’s what we like about him.zimm

It’s been a while since Jordan Zimmermann hurt us many weeks ago in a start against Milwaukee in the matchup against Fiers that I totally got wrong. But guess what? He’s returned to normal and has been terrific lately – one earned run in his last three starts combined. And he’s gone at least seven innings in each and every one of those starts. Zimmermann is coming off of eight strikeouts in his last start against the Giants, which matches a season-high and offers only more good news. We’re in Camden Yards, I know. The Nats can hit, I know. Baltimore can mash a little bit too. But 8.0 is a nice number when you have two starters as consistent as these two guys. I love ’em both and that makes this one an easy play (but just for half).

So the answer? You should have known this one all along. We’re going under!
