Genesis Open Betting

The best field so far this year will assemble at Riviera for the Genesis Open. There will be 8 of the top 10 and 16 of the top 25 in the world playing this week. Some improvement from the early events at the start of the year. Riviera Country Club is quite long and will ask questions of the shorter hitters on the tour. Measuring 7, 322 yards and playing as a par 71, it most definitely suits the bigger hitters. That’s why the defending champion Bubba Watson has enjoyed such a prolific run at this course. He has already notched up 2 wins here and another one would make it three in four years. If anyone is going to pull off that type of run it would be Bubba Watson, the larger than life and sometimes controversial character, has a tendency to pull off the highly unlikely. He will have plenty competition this week and will need to be at his best if he is to defend at Riviera. Sergio Garcia makes his first appearance in the U.S. this year. The Spaniard pulled off a remarkable win in Dubai a couple of weeks ago and will almost definitely be towards the top of the leaderboard this weekend.

Bubba Watson (+2800 BetOnline.ag)

Who would bet against the man with the record he has at Riviera? If Watson can hole a few putts he will once again challenge for the title. His length off the tee is a massive advantage and will have him hitting short irons at flags. It may be a case of aim and shoot for Watson this week as he looks to notch up another win at a course he loves.

Jordan Speith (+700 BetOnline.ag)

Jordan Speith turned last weeks victory at Pebble Beach into a bit of a procession. The young Texan didn’t break a sweat as he won by four shots. He looked entirely in control and structured his win to perfection. An ominous sign for  the rest of the PGA Tour. Jordan Speith looks determined and focused, he could quite easily go on and win again this week at Riviera.

Sergio Garcia (+2000 BetOnline.ag)

The Spaniard comes in to the Genesis Open on the back of some sizzling form. He blew the field away in Dubai a couple of weeks ago. Holding off the indomitable Henrik Stenson as he came down the stretch seems to indicate this could be a big year for one of the games greatest current players.
