Miami vs Georgia Tech Week 4 Betting Pick

By College Football

Miami @ Georgia Tech (Week 4 Betting Line and Prediction)

Last Saturday a buddy of mine text me a photo of the crowd at Sun Life Stadium just prior to kickoff of Miami’s home game versus Bethune- Cookman, whoever that is…..there was nobody there. Boy how times have changed, I recently watched Miami at Kansas State two weeks ago and the Wildcats a seven point favorite controlled the line of scrimmage and rushed for (288) yards in routing the Canes 52-13 in Manhattan.

The Yellow Jackets (2-1) have the triple option rolling and won last week 56-20 over ACC foe Virginia. Jacket QB Tevin Washington with another year in Paul Johnson’s system has added a passing threat to the triple option arsenal. The Hurricane’s (2-1) have a solid RB back in Duke Johnson who rushed for (94) yards and two scores last weekend and also feature QB Stephen Morris who likes to pitch it around to several different receivers on the perimeter.  The Yellow Jackets lost last year’s meeting 24-7 in Miami.  Is it time for payback?

Miami @ Georgia Tech (-14) Betting Prediction

I like a road team that can stop the run and force some tough third down conversions for the home team. I just don’t see that happening in this contest. Miami has given up (521) yards rushing over the last two games and now they are facing a very difficult task in stopping the precise execution of the Yellow Jacket triple option game…..uh oh. Worst of all for Miami, coach Johnson is a guy who will roll the dice on 4th and short, this sets up for some time consuming drives and with Washington’s new found play action passing ability down the middle of the field it shapes up as a long day for the Canes.

GT is averaging (44.0) ppg on offense and held Virginia to (98) rushing yards last week.  Bethune-Cookman had (20) first downs thirteen of those on the ground last week against the Hurricanes.  GT is 8-3 straight up in its last 11 games at home. This is a bad matchup for a Hurricane defense that is allowing teams to run the ball between the tackles on a consistent basis. Miami did not look good on the road two weeks ago and the program just seems stale right now with all the legal transgressions surrounding the team. Look for Duke Johnson to do his part but Washington and the ground game will set the tone early. Prediction: Georgia Tech 35 Miami 17

Play: Georgia Tech -14
