Air Force @ UNLV (Week 4 Betting Line and Prediction)
The Falcons fresh off a solid effort against Michigan as a 21-point dog covered losing 31-25 in the Big House. The Rebels lost on national television at home last Friday night to the Washington State Cougars 35-27 as an 8.5 point dog. UNLV head coach Bobby Hauck’s (4-23) overall record is feeling some heat from the locals as they have dropped five straight contests at home and also five in a row to the disciplined Falcons who rang up (522) total yards of offense in last year’s meeting; a 45-17 spanking by the flyboys who were posted as a 24-point favorite.
The Falcon ground attack picked up (290) yards on the ground averaging a little more than four yards a pop. The Falcon running game which is always hard to prepare for has averaged (450) yards per game over the last 10 meetings with UNLV. The Rebels are currently fashioning the #94 ranked offense which is not good if they fall behind to a very patient ground attack. Rebel QB Nick Sherry did put up good numbers last week versus the Cougars passing for (351) yards against a suspect secondary and had too as they trailed early.
Air Force (-14) @ UNLV Betting Prediction
The one thing you can always count on is the Falcons packing a solid run game on the road where they are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 with UNLV. The Rebels like most teams will try to simulate the Falcon running game in practice but until you see it in game speed it has been for the most part too late for the boys from Vegas. Air Force piled up (522) yards of total offense in last year’s meeting and I look for more of the same here.
UNLV is a desperate team looking to hang one in the win column for their embattled coach who by most accounts is running out of time. If the Rebels were going to come out swinging it would have been last week in front of a national audience. Air Force rushed for (387) yards on the ground at Michigan last week and proved they could do it on the road against a marquee opponent. I’m confident laying the (-14) with a proven run game over a squad looking for a leader who just may be on his way out the door.
