2012 ACC Tournament Winner Odds and Prediction

By College Basketball

Duke bettingIt’s Championship Week in college basketball as teams attempt win their conference and also win some big games that could determine whether or not they are playing in the dance this year.  The ACC has been an interesting conference this year with 3 nationally ranked teams heading into their Champ Week.  These three teams are of course North Carolina, Duke and Florida State, each of which has a legitimate chance of winning the ACC tournament here in 2012.  The ACC tourney gets underway on March 8th with seeds 5th through 12th battling it out to make the quarterfinals and a chance to play the top 4 seeds.  Let’s take a look at the odds for each team winning this tournament according to some top quality online sportsbooks.

ACC Tournament Winner Odds

  • North Carolina -125 (Bovada.lv)
  • Duke +300 (Bookmaker.eu)
  • Florida State +850 (BetOnline.com)
  • Virginia +1200 (BetOnline.com)
  • Miami +2500 (BetOnline.com)
  • North Carolina State +3500 (BetOnline.com)

The odds are quite varied at those three very strong online sportsbooks. In fact with those odds you can easily hedge your bets to ensure you make a profit if one of the top 3 schools wins, which is a very strong likelihood.

ACC Tournament Winner Predictions

North Carolina has been the top dog in the ACC all year except for a couple hiccup’s losing to Duke and FSU once each.  The Duke loss was a one point heartbreaking loss, while the FSU loss was a blowout and that was their only game against Florida State this year, which makes it difficult to assess how they might match up with FSU if Florida State somehow manages to get past Duke and into the finals against North Carolina.  The fact of the matter is though that North Carolina will not have any difficult beating either Maryland or Wake Forest and should handle Viriginia or North Carolina State very easily as well, putting them into the finals.  Once there they will be the favourites and honestly the -125 at Bovada.lv right now is an absolute steal, when you look at the -375 and -225 being given at the other two bookies.  I like North Carolina at -125!  Visit Bovada.lv to get that line.

Duke at +300 is also some solid value.  Duke has beaten North Carolina so you already know it is possible even though they did get thumped in the rematch.  Duke did have to go to OT against Virginia Tech in their last meeting, but I would be very surprised if Clemson or VT were able to beat Duke in the quarters.  Then it is likely FSU in the semi’s and even though they lost their one game against FSU this year Duke will be the favourites in that one.  I like Duke at +300 as well because I will be very surprised if a team other than one of the top 3 wins this tournament.  Visit Bookmaker.eu to bet on Duke.

FSU at +850 is also pretty solid.  You may think I’m not really picking a team, but it is because the odds being provided by the different bookies are not the same so if you bet on each of these teams at the bookies outlined in the odds section you would be able to find a hedge that would work well if one of these 3 schools wins the tournament and it would be shocking if one of them did not.  FSU has beaten both Duke and North Carolina this year and although they did recently lose to Miami, a likely quarterfinal opponent, FSU has the talent to win that game the majority of the time.  Then it is Duke and North Carolina likely remaining and FSU is 2-1 in three games against those two opponents this year.  They will be underdogs in each game, but they have the ability which makes the +850 look very good.  Visit BetOnline.com to bet on Florida State.
