My Pick

The 34-year-old Marshall enters the bout with a fine record of 13-1 with 10 Ko’s and has boxed 64 rounds since turning pro in 2018. She enjoyed a fine amateur career and boxed at the 2012 Olympics in London and the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro but failed to take home a medal. However, she did capture numerous Commonwealth, European and World medals and amateur titles including gold at the 2012 World Championships and bronze at the 2016 World Championships. Marshall considered giving up the sport following her 2016 Olympic disappointment but turned pro with Floyd Mayweather’s promotional stable and after just one fight signed with Hennessy Sports.

She started boxing at the age of 12 and was trained by Peter Fury, an uncle of Tyson Fury. Marshall stands just under six-feet-tall but unfortunately has an unlisted reach. She reportedly went 61-16 as an amateur with no Ko’s but has stopped 10 of her 14 pro opponents, meaning 77 per cent of her wins have been by stoppage including eight of her last nine. Marshall captured the vacant WBO Middleweight Belt in October, 2020 by stopping Hannah Rankin in the seventh round and defended it three times.

Marshall then suffered her lone defeat and lost the belt as Claressa Shields beat her by a 10-round unanimous decision in October, 2022. It was a grudge match as Marshall handed Shields the lone amateur loss of her career when she beat her on points at the 2012 Women’s World Championships. Marshall rebounded from the loss with her win over Dezurn but hasn’t fought in two years now. She didn’t sit around doing nothing though as Marshall made her mixed martial arts debut in June of last year when she stopped Mirela Vargas in the opening round at PFL Europe.

The 35-year-old Green carries around a record of 15-1 with 11 Ko’s to her name and has boxed 74 rounds since making her pro debut in 2019. She also enjoyed a fine amateur career as she competed at the 2016 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships as a heavyweight and won a silver medal. She also reached the USA Women’s National Championships Final in 2017. Green measures 5-feet-8-inches tall and also has an unlisted reach so gives up 3.5-inches in height to Marshall.

Green won the vacant WBC International Super Middleweight Title in 2020 when she stopped Martha Patricia Lara Gaytan in the first round. She added the vacant WBC Silver Super Middleweight Crown in 2022 when she also halted Angelica Lopez Flores in the opening round. In her next fight she earned the vacant American Boxing Federation Inter-Continental Super Middleweight Belt with a third-round TKO over Celia Rosa Sierra.

The first world title shot for Green came in December, 2023 when she faced Franchon Crews Dezurn for the vacant WBC Super Middleweight Belt but she dropped a 10-round unanimous decision. She rebounded from the setback with an eight-round unanimous decision over Natasha Spence and then won the vacant WBO Title in her latest contest with the split decision over Watpool in November. Green also possesses plenty of power as 73.3 per cent of her wins have come by stoppage.

Prediction…

Marshall has faced tougher opposition over her career and has a slight edge when it comes to boxing skills. However Green matches her when it comes to power. For the shorter Green to win though she’s going to need to work her way inside. Marshall’s two-year layoff from the ring won’t do her any favours though as 10 two-minute rounds can just fly by. Therefore she’s going to have to get off to a quick start. This fight could go either way due to their power but I give Marshall the edge due to her experience and overall skills.

Marshall has the edge in boxing skills and size.
