  • Brandon Glanton -185

My Pick

The 34-year-old Browne enters the clash with an impressive mark of 25-2 with 16 Ko’s and the southpaw has 132 rounds of experience to his name since making his pro debut in 2012. He stands just over 6-feet-1-inch tall with a wingspan of 75.5 inches. Browne enjoyed a pretty good amateur career as he boxed at the 2012 Olympics in London, England, but was beaten by Damien Hooper on points 13-11 in his first contest of the tournament.

Browne possesses decent power in his punches as 64 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. However, he lost two of his last four fights, hasn’t won by stoppage in his last six and last halted an opponent in January, 2018 when he finished Francy Ntetu in 135 seconds. As far as his chin goes, Browne was stopped by Beterbiev in an exciting tilt and has been down a few other times in his career including in the fifth round against Lenin Castillo in 2018 and three times against Jean Pascal in 2019.

Browne lost to Pascal after eight rounds by technical decision due to a cut in 2019 and lost the WBC Silver, and the WBA interim Light Heavyweight Titles which he had won seven months earlier with a unanimous decision nod over Badou Jack. He’s also beaten Sean Monaghan, Thomas Williams Jr., Gabriel Campillo, Radivoje Kalajdzic, Cornelius White, Aaron Pryor Jr., George Blades and Otis Griffin. Browne’s not exactly the hardest guy to hit in the ring and combined with his power, that makes him a pretty exciting boxer to watch.

The 33-year-old Glanton makes the ring walk with a mark of 20-3 with 17 Ko’s to his name. He made his pro debut back in 2017 and has 100 rounds of experience under his belt since. As an amateur he reached the 2016 National Golden Gloves Quarterfinals and the 2015 USA National Championships Quarterfinals and competed in the World Series of Boxing. He measures 6-feet tall with a 79-inch reach so gives up 1.5-inches in height to Browne but makes up for it with a 3.5-inch reach advantage. Glanton possesses quite a bit more power than Browne as 85 per cent of his wins have been by stoppage, including his past six.

His first defeat came at the hands of David Light by 10-round split decision in December, 2022 in a shot at the vacant WBO Global, and WBO International Cruiserweight Titles. He then lost his next fight four months later when he was edged by via a 10-round majority decision by Soslan Abarov and he lost to Billam-Smith by decision in his last outing. Glanton did win the vacant WBO Global Cruiserweight Belt in 2022 when he stopped Mario Aguilar in the second round. He also captured the vacant WBO International Crown in 2024 by halting Emil Markic in the second stanza as well.

Prediction…

Browne has taken on tougher opposition over his career but hasn’t fought in two years. He’s in the twilight of his career now and stepping back into the ring with a power puncher in Glanton. Browne is certainly a fine boxer with decent power but he’s going to have his chin tested. If he can handle Glanton’s hardest shots and outwork him then he has a legitimate chance here, but I can also see Glanton being too powerful for him. It’s a bit of a tossup but I’m going with Glanton over in Africa.

Glanton’s power could be the difference.
