Jack Catterall vs Harlem Eubank Preview July 5th, 2025

There’s an interesting 12-round domestic welterweight fight in England this Saturday, July 5th as Jack Catterall of Chorley takes on unbeaten Harlem Eubank of Brighton. The fight from Manchester Arena can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Catterall last fought in February when he dropped a split decision to Arnold Barboza Jr. in a shot at the vacant Interim WBO Super Lightweight Title. In his previous contest last October, Catterall beat former WBC Junior Welterweight Champion Regis Prograis via a 12-round unanimous decision for the vacant WBO International WBO Junior Welterweight Belt. Catterall was down in the fifth round and Prograis was dropped twice in the ninth stanza. Eubank last saw action in March when he stopped Tyrone McKenna in the 10th round for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Welterweight Belt and also dropped him in the fifth and seventh rounds.

  • Jack Catterall -325

My Pick

The 31-year-old Catterall boasts a fine record of 30-2 with 13 Ko’s. He possesses below-average power though with 43.3 per cent of his wins coming by stoppage and has gone the distance in 10 of his past 11 bouts. He’s boxed 230 rounds since making his pro debut in 2012. Before that he enjoyed a pretty good amateur career in which he reportedly went 48-18 and captured a CYP title and reached the final of the Junior ABA’s.

Since turning pro he’s won a few other regional and minor titles such as the BBBoC Central Area, WBO European, WBA Inter-Continental, WBO Inter-Continental, and BBBoC British Super Lightweight Crowns. Catterall stands 5-feet-7-inches tall with a 69-inch reach. He first stepped up in class in 2022 by meeting Josh Taylor and definitely proved he belonged with the best of the division. He lost a controversial split decision though for the WBC, WBO and IBF Super Lightweight Titles.

Catterall rebounded from the defeat to beat Darragh Foley and former world champion Jorge Linares by 10 and 12-round unanimous decisions respectively and then avenged the loss to Taylor in May, 2024 when he beat him by a unanimous 12-round decision. Catterall followed that win with the victory over Prograis and the recent loss to Barboza. He’s also beaten the likes of Nathan Brough, Thomas Stalker, Jarkko Putkonen, Jesus Rodriguez, Joe Hughes, Tyrone Nurse, Tyrone McKenna, Ohara Davies and Timo Schwarzkopf.

The 31-year-old Eubank, who took up boxing at the age of 18, is the nephew of former world champion Chris Eubank and the cousin of Chris Eubank Jr. He makes the ring walk with a perfect mark of 21-0 with 9 Ko’s and has boxed 134 rounds since making his pro debut back in 2017. He won the vacant WBO Global Super Lightweight title in 2023 when he stopped Timo Schwarzkopf in the 11th round after dropping him in the third.

At 5-feet-8-inches tall with a 68.5-inch reach, Eubank is an inch taller than Catterall and has a minimal half-inch reach disadvantage. This will be his third contest as a welterweight while Catterall fought in the division earlier min his career. As far as power is concerned, Eubank is also below average and quite comparable to Catterall’s as it comes in at 43 per cent. On the bright side, Eubank has stopped three of his past four opponents though. Eubank is a former soccer player and karate enthusiast.

Prediction…

Catterall isn’t really a polished boxer but he is quite determined and has just enough power to keep you honest. The same could be said of Eubank but while Catterall could be considered to be a world-class boxer at this stage of his career it’s probably safe to say that Eubank is on the domestic level or European level at best. Of course if he should win this weekend, Eubank should rise in the rankings. Catterall has greater experience against tougher opposition and has been relatively successful against them and that’s why I’m going with him.

Catterall is a level above Eubank at this stage of their careers.
