  • Ezra Taylor +143
  • Willy Hutchinson -185

My Pick

The 31-year-old Taylor resides in Nottingham, England and carries around a perfect mark of 13-0 with 9 Ko’s and has fought just 65 rounds since making his pro debut in 2020. As an amateur he reportedly made a name for himself by becoming the first male capture five regional belts at the same time. He recently trained in America under the guidance of Malik Scott. Taylor reportedly stands 6-feet-2-inches tall with a 74.5-inch reach. However, some sites list him as tall as 6-foot-7 inches.

As far as power is concerned, Taylor can pack a decent punch as 69.2 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including three of his past four. He won the vacant WBC International Light Heavyweight Title in July, 2024 with a 10-round unanimous decision over Carlos Alberto Lamela and defeated Troy Jones via the same route to win the vacant WBA Continental Gold Light Heavyweight Belt. Eight of Taylor’s 13 opponents entered the ring with a winning record with his biggest victories coming against Woodall, Jones and Prince Oko Nartey.

Hutchinson is 27 years old and boasts a record of 19-2 with 14 Ko’s. He turned pro back in 2017 and has boxed 93 rounds since. As an amateur he won gold medals at the European Junior Championships in 2014 and the Youth World Championships in 2016. Hutchinson became the first Scottish boxer to win a gold medal at an amateur World Championship. He stands 6-feet-1-inch tall but has an unlisted reach.

As far as his power goes, Hutchinson boasts a bit more of it than Taylor as 73.7 per cent of his victories have come by stoppage including seven of his last eight. His first defeat was a fifth-round TKO at the hands of Lennox Clarke in a shot at the vacant British and Commonwealth Super Middleweight Titles in 2021 and he also lost to Joshua Buatsi by split decision in 2024. After moving up to light heavyweight, Hutchinson has captured the WBC International Title as well as the WBC Silver Belt and also has an impressive 12-round unanimous decision over Craig Richards.

Prediction…

Hutchinson has fought as a light heavyweight since 2021 while Taylor has fought his whole career in the division. Taylor is unbeaten but hasn’t really faced a top contender as of yet but has fine boxing skills and enough power to do some damage. When Hutchinson is at his best he can be a handful for anybody and I believe he’ll do just enough to come out of this fight with another win.

Hutchinson has the style to frustrate Taylor.
