- Lorenzo Parra +340
- Elijah Pierce -500
My Pick
Pierce is a 29-year-old southpaw who has built up a record of 21-2 with 17 Ko’s and has fought a total of 102 rounds since turning pro in 2016 following his amateur career. He stands 5-feet-8-inches tall but unfortunately has an unlisted reach. He possesses plenty of power his fists as 80.9 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including five of his past seven.
Pierce’s first pro defeat came to Giovanni Cabrera in 2018 when he dropped a 10-round unanimous decision while his second loss came two fights later when he was edged in an eight-round majority decision to Sulaiman Segawa in September, 2019. His biggest wins have been against Mike Plania, who he stopped in three rounds in August, 2023 as well as Dasmarinas, Jose Sanmartin, Arthur Villanueva, Jesse Garcia, Daron Williams, Juan Carlos Pena and Tramaine Williams.
As for Parras, he’s 30 years old and has fought 126 rounds since making his pro debut in 2014 and enters the ring with a mark of 23-1-1 with 17 Ko’s. He measures 5-feet-7-inches tall with a 71-inch reach so gives up an inch in height to Pierce. He also possesses good power as 73.9 per cent of his victories have been by stoppage. He’s gone the distance in his last two fights and has halted six of his past 10 opponents.
Parras’ lone defeat came at the hands of Yonfrez Parejo by way of a 10-round unanimous decision in 2017. He hasn’t taken on any contenders and has fought mainly in South and Central America but his last two fights were in the USA. He’s taking a bit of a leap up in class this weekend as just five of his 25 opponents entered the ring with a winning record.
Prediction…
Pierce has definitely fought stiffer opposition as a pro and has above average power in his fists. Parras also has power, which gives him a puncher’s chance, but I’m expecting Pierce to emerge with a victory here. It could go the distance however if Parras proves he has a solid chin.
Pierce has power and experience on his side.
