Alan David Picasso vs Carl Martin Preview October 31st, 2026

Alan David Picasso of Mexico defends his WBC Silver Featherweight Title this Saturday, October 31st when he takes on unbeaten Carl ‘Wonder Boy’ Martin of the Philippines. The 10-rounder from Saudi Arabia can be seen live on DAZN pay-per-view on the undercard of the Mbilli vs Alvarez showdown. Picasso last fought in August when he stopped Maicol Rincon in two rounds to defend his belt. In his previous contest, Picasso, who’s also known as David Picasso, Alan Romero and David Rey Picasso, traveled to Tokyo, Japan to take on undisputed Super Bantamweight Champion Naoya Inoue and dropped a wide unanimous decision. It was his second straight fight against a Japanese opponent as five months earlier Picasso beat Kyonosuke Kameda by a controversial 10-round majority decision. Martin’s last fight resulted in a third-round knockout over Carlo Dermecillo in May.

My Pick
Picasso will be fighting for the 36th time as a pro despite being just 26 years of age. He made his pro debut in 2017 as a teenager and has boxed 199 rounds since. He climbs into the ring with a fine mark of 33-1-1. The only blemishes on his record are a four-round technical draw with Martin Jiminez Delgado in 2018 and the loss to Naoya Inoue. Delgado was originally credited with a fourth-round TKO against Delgado but the decision was overturned to a technical draw. Picasso measures 5-feet-8-inches tall with a 70-inch reach.
As far as power is concerned he’s slightly above average as 54.5 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage and he’s gone the distance in five of his past eight contests. At one point in his career Picasso had halted 10 of 12 opponents. He captured the vacant WBC Youth Inter-Continental Jr Featherweight Title in 2019 via a 10-round unanimous decision over Anthony Jiminez Salas. He added the vacant Inter-Continental Featherweight Crown the next year with a unanimous nod over Jesus Ouijada. Picasso then won the vacant NABF Jr Featherweight Belt in 2022 with a fourth-round stoppage of David Reyes Cota.
Next he took the WBC Silver Crown in 2023 via a sixth-round TKO over Sabelo Ngebinyana. Picasso took a step up in class in 2024 when he beat Azat Hovhannisyan by 12-round unanimous decision to defend his Silver Title. None of Picasso’s first 10 opponents had a winning record when stepping into the ring. His biggest wins to date have been against Kyonosuke Kameda, Hovhannisyan, Carlos Alberto Ocampo, Victor Proa, Jesus Gomez Quintana, Edixon Perez, Kevin Villanueva, Yeison Vargas, Erik Ruiz and Damien Vazquez.
The 27-year-old Carl Jammes Martin is a southpaw who makes the ring walk with a perfect mark of 28-0 with 21 Ko’s. He made his pro debut back in 2016 as a teenager and has 151 rounds of experience under his belt since. He stands 5-feet-6-inches tall with a 65-inch reach do he gives up two inches in height to Picasso as well as five inches in reach. He has more power than Picasso though as his current knockout ratio stands at an impressive 75 per cent.
Martin has gone the distance in two of his last three fights but has stopped four of his past six opponents. He captured the vacant Philippines Luzon Bantamweight Title in 2017 and the vacant WBO Oriental Youth Bantamweight Belt in 2018. He added the vacant Philippines Boxing Federation Bantamweight Crown in 2019 and the Philippine Games and Amusements Board Super Bantamweight Belt in 2021. Next up was the vacant IBF Pan Pacific Super Bantamweight Title in 2022 and the vacant WBO Global Super Bantamweight Belt in 2023.
Martin’s biggest wins have been against Mark Anthony Geraldo, Aran Dipaen, Ruben Garcia, Ronnie Baldonado and Anthony Salas. He’s boxed in Mexico and America as a pro but the vast majority of his fights have taken place at home in the Philippines against domestic level opposition. Martin is affiliated with MP Promotions and Premier Boxing Champions. He’s ranked number one in the world by the WBO at super bantamweight but is fighting as a 126 lb featherweight this weekend.
Prediction…
Picasso handled himself well enough against Naoya Inoue but his lack of power didn’t help. He does possess fine boxing skills though and may need them to elude Martin’s power this weekend. Martin is moving up in weight so we’ll have to see if his power and chin move up with him. Picasso has better experience against tougher opposition but I definitely wouldn’t take Martin too lightly here as he could upset the apple cart. Picasso is naturally bigger though with experience so I give him the edge here, but not by much.
Picasso’s size and experience are the key.
