Jeison Rosario vs Kyrone Davis Preview September 26th, 2026
Former IBF and WBA Junior Middleweight Champ Jeison Rosario of the Dominican Republic takes on Kyrone Davis of Monmouth County, New Jersey this Saturday, September 26th. The 10-round middleweight bout will take place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Davis last saw action in June when he beat Daijohn Gonzalez via an eight-round unanimous decision. In his previous outing a year earlier he suffered the fourth defeat of his pro career when he dropped a 10-round unanimous nod to Yoenli Hernandez. Rosario was last in the ring in February, 2025 when he was stopped by Jesus Ramos Jr. in the eighth round. It was his second straight fight without a win as he drew over 10 rounds with former world champion Jarrett Hurd in his previous contest.

The 31-year-old Rosario took the IBO, IBF and WBA Jr. Middleweight Titles from Julian ‘J Rock’ Williams during William’s first defence in 2020 when he stopped him in the fifth round. However he lost the belts to Jermell Charlo in his first defence eight months later when he was stopped in the eighth round. Rosario’s record now stands at 24-5-2 with 18 Ko’s. His first pro defeat came at the hands of Nathaniel Gallimore by way of sixth-round TKO in 2017. Rosario’s third loss was to Erickson Lubin by sixth-round KO in 2021, which came nine months after losing to Charlo.
He was also stopped by Brian Mendoza in 2022. Rosario’s other draw was a six-round affair with Mark Anthony Hernandez in 2018. Rosario, who fights out of New York, turned pro back in 2013 as a teenager and has 138 rounds of experience under his belt since. He hasn’t had an official bout since February of 2025, but Rosario has been competing in the Team Boxing League (one-round fights) this year. As far as his power is concerned, Rosario is no slouch as 75 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including seven of his last eight.
However, he’s been stopped in all five of his defeats so he doesn’t own the sturdiest of chins. In addition, he’s won just one of his past four contests with two losses and a draw. Rosario stands 5-feet-11-inches tall with a 70-inch reach and has also beaten Mark Anthony Hernandez, Jorge Cota, Juan Rodriguez, Jamontay Clark, Justin DeLoach and Salim Larbi. He won the vacant Dominican Republic Welterweight Title with a second-round TKO over Jose Vidal Soto in 2014. He added the vacant WBA Fedecaribe Super Welterweight Belt with a third-round stoppage of Euri Gonzalez in 2015.
Kyrone Davis is also 31 years old and makes the ring walk with a mark of 20-4-1 with 6 Ko’s. He first made a name for himself in 2021 with a 12-round draw against former world champion Anthony Dirrell. Davis made his pro debut in 2014 and has fought 159 rounds since. measures 5-feet-11-inches tall with a 75-inch reach which gives him a five-inch reach advantage on Rosario. He doesn’t possess much in the way of power though as just 30 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. In fact, he hasn’t halted anybody since January, 2020, a span of eight fights.
Davis enjoyed a fine amateur career as he won the National PAL Boxing Championships and placed second at the 2013 National Golden Gloves in Salt Lake City. He boxed in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Colorado Springs and was a two-time Pennsylvania State Golden Gloves Champion, and a two-time PA Jr. Golden Gloves Champion. He also won a bronze medal at the USA Boxing Tournament to earn a spot as an alternate on the 2013 USA Boxing Team.
His first defeat came at the hands of Junior Castillo via an eight-round unanimous decision in 2016. He dropped a 10-round unanimous decision to Patrick Day in 2018 for the WBC Continental Americas Super Welterweight Title and was stopped by David Benavidez in the seventh round in 2021. Davis, who fights out of Wilmington, Delaware, has wins over Jaime Barboza, Elijah Garcia, Alex Gaytan, Mark Anthony Hernandez and Gabriel Ozan.
PREDICTION…
Rosario looked pretty good against Jarrett Hurd a couple of fights ago but was brought back to earth when Ramos stopped him in his last outing. There’s no question that Rosario’s Achilles Heel is his chin as all five of his losses have come by stoppage. On the bright side, he’s not facing a big puncher in Davis as he lacks power. Rosario has the big edge in power but Davis has been stopped just once. Davis also has a high ring IQ to go with good head movement and timing. He’s also known as a fine counter-puncher with a good right hand. I believe Davis is the better overall boxer in this matchup and expect him to win a relatively close fight over the distance.
Davis’ skills should do the job.
