Two hard-hitting heavyweights are scheduled to go at it over 10 rounds in Broadbeach, Australia this Wednesday, August 12th as unbeaten Teremoana Teremoana of Australia meets DeAndre Savage of Flint, Michigan. Teremoana was last in the ring in April when he stopped aging veteran Bowie Tupou in just 74 seconds. Savage last saw action in December when he halted Jefferson Troncoso in 45 seconds. The combined pro records of Teremoana and Savage is 22-1 with all 22 wins coming by knockout. Wednesday’s fight can be seen live in most nations on DAZN with the card getting underway at 3am ET while fans Down Under can catch it on Fox and Kayo Sports.

The 28 year-old Teremoana fights out of Brisbane and climbs into the ring with a perfect mark of 11-0 with 11 Ko’s. He obviously carries tremendous power in his fists with a 100 per cent knockout ratio. Nine of his stoppages have come in the first round including the last eight straight. He also has two second-round knockouts. Teremoana stands 6-feet-6-inches tall with a reported reach of 78 inches. He has boxed just 13 rounds since making his pro debut in 2020 due to his tremendous power.
As an amateur, Teremoana boxed for Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in the super-heavyweight division. He halted Dmytro Lovchynskyi in his first fight but was beaten by eventual gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov in the quarterfinals. He also lost to Justis Huni in the amateurs. Teremoana owns a fantastic pro record but he’s yet to take on a legitimate contender and that trend will continue this week. Eight of his 11 opponents entered the ring with a winning record but the only recognizable names for the average fan would be the 44-year-old Bowie Tupou and Curtis Harper.
As for Savage, he’s 35 years old and fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada. He makes the ring walk with a fine record of 11-1 and all 11 of his victories have come by stoppage as well with eight of them coming in the first round. He has stopped two opponents in the second round and one in the third. There are two no-contests on Savage’s pro record. He met Christopher Elias Garza in 2021 with the fight being stopped early after Garza suffered an injury and in 2024 his bout against KeShawn Jackson the contest was halted in the second round due to an accidental low blow.
Savage didn’t turn pro until 2021 when he was 29 years old and he’s boxed just 27 rounds since. he measures 6-feet-3-inches tall with an unlisted reach so gives up three inches in height to Teremoana. Savage boxed as an amateur and also fought in the bare-knuckle game as well as the team-combat league. He was stopped in the first round by Nagy Aguilera in a team-combat bout just three months ago.
Before turning pro Savage played college football was once a highly-ranked amateur who reportedly competed in the US Olympic trials. Just two of Savage’s 12 pro boxing opponents entered the ring with a winning record and he was beaten by one of them. His lone defeat came at the hands of Brandon Moore via a 10-round unanimous decision last September. He was dropped in the seventh round and lost by scores of 100-89, 100-89 and 99-90.
Prediction…
Each boxer has a 100 per cent knockout record but Savage is 35 years old, seven years older than Teremoana. Neither man has faced a top ranked opponent as their records have been built up against aging veterans and journeymen. Still, they’ve each done the job just about every time they’ve stepped into the ring. I’m expecting this to be a short fight as I don’t think Savage has the punch resistance to handle Teremoana. In fact, the fight could be over quicker than you can boil an egg.
Savage doesn’t have the chin to handle Teremoana.
