The 2025 Belmont Stakes will take place at Saratoga Race Course this evening (Saturday June 7th). The race will be run at Saratoga for the second consecutive year due to the ongoing renovations at Belmont Park. The change of location will result in this years race being a distance of 1.25 miles, instead of the traditional 1.5 miles typical of a Belmont Stakes race.
There is no Triple Crown possibility this year. Kentucky Derby winner, Sovereignty, did not run in the Preakness Stakes, which was won by Derby runner-up, Journalism. Sovereignty and Journalism are the favorites leading into the Belmont Stakes.
Even without the possibility of a Triple Crown winner the Belmont Stakes is still one of the biggest races of the year and I expect significant betting action on the race.
