Jets vs Patriots Week 7 Betting Picks

By NFL

The New York Jets and New England Patriots are set to resume their rivalry this week on Sunday. The game is going to take place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro and is scheduled to begin at 1 PM. ET.

Over the years, the Patriots have dominated the Jets, just like the rest of the AFC East, but the Jets have always played them tougher than most of their other opponents. This year, the rivalry will continue without Rex Ryan, who was always good for a quote or two, because he is coaching the Buffalo Bills now.

Chris Ivory needs to have a huge game to give the Jets a chance to win this game.

Chris Ivory needs to have a huge game to give the Jets a chance to win this game.

His replacement Todd Bowles is the exact opposite of Ryan and doesn’t feel the need to talk trash before games. Despite his collected demeanor, Bowles has done a very good job turning the franchise around.

Right now, the Jets are 4-1 and have a chance to take the AFC East lead if they can defeat the Patriots on Sunday. While a lot of people aren’t giving them a chance, the Jets are capable of pulling off the surprise.

The Jets are one of the best rushing teams in the league, thanks to Chris Ivory, who has 460 yards and 4 touchdowns this season. Ryan Fitzpatrick has also done a great job at the quarterback position, throwing for 1,177 yards 9 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. If he can protect the ball against the Patriots, the Jets should be able to hang with the high-scoring champions.

Tom Brady and his teammates have looked unstoppable for most of the season, but last week against the Indianapolis Colts, they showed a few signs of weakness. Against the Jets, they will be facing one of the best defenses they will play this year, and it will be interesting to see how Brady handles the pressure he will be facing on Sunday.

Another problem Brady will face this week is his former teammate Darrelle Revis, who was a member of the Super Bowl winning Patriots team last season. Now that he is back with the Jets, Revis is expected to go back to making life miserable for Brady once again, with his ball hawking skills. This will force Brady to throw away from Revis, which will limit their offense.

For the Jets, there is no point in trying to be something they aren’t. They will feed Chris Ivory the ball as much as possible, in hopes of controlling the clock and tiring out the defense, and Fitzpatrick will try to make big plays with play action passes to Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Marshall has made a very big impact on the Jets offense this season and is going to create matchup problems for the Patriots in this game.

Defensively, the Patriots need to play better against the run. In their game against the Colts, Frank Gore ran for 78 yards on 13 carries, and would have likely gained more yards if the Colts didn’t go away from their running game in the second half. The Jets know that their running game is their bread and butter, so they will stick with it as long as they are getting huge chunks of yardage. If the Patriots can’t slow Ivory down, they will be in a lot of trouble.
