Reece Bellotti vs Josh Padley Preview October 11th, 2025

Josh Padley returns to the ring in this Saturday, October 11th to battle it out with fellow Englishman Reece Bellotti. The 10-round lightweight bout can be seen live on DAZN in most nations. Padley was a late replacement for original opponent Floyd Schofield against WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson in February and made a name for himself despite being stopped in the ninth round for his lone pro defeat. He rebounded from the loss with a fifth-round TKO over Marko Cvetanovic just two months later in his last outing. Bellotti last fought in July when he was stopped in the 12th round by Ryan Garner in a shot at the European, and WBC International Super Featherweight Titles and also lost his British and Commonwealth Titles at the same time.

My Pick
The 34-year-old Bellotti hails from Watford, and enters the ring with a mark of 20-6 with 15 Ko’s. He has 179 rounds of experience under his belt since turning pro in 2015 following his amateur career. As an amateur, Bellotti won two ABA national championships; as a bantamweight in 2012 and as a featherweight in 2013. He stands 5-feet-7-inches tall with an unlisted reach and owns pretty good power as 75 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage but he’s halted just three of his past 10 opponents.
Bellotti has been stopped in three of his six defeats as as Ryan Garner stopped him earlier this year and Ryan Doyle halted him in five rounds in 2018 to take his Commonwealth Featherweight Belt. Raymond Ford also stopped him in three rounds in 2021. Bellotti won the vacant WBC International Featherweight belt in 2017 when he stopped Jamie Speight in eight rounds. He added the Commonwealth Featherweight Title in his next fight by halting Jamie Cunningham in six rounds. In 2018, Bellotti dropped a 12-round split decision to Ryan Walsh in a shot at the British Featherweight Crown.
He lost a 10-round split decision to Francesco Grandelli in 2019 in an attempt at the vacant WBC International Silver Featherweight Belt. That was the start of a three-fight losing skid as Jordan Gill beat him by 10-round unanimous decision in 2020 and Raymond Ford stopped him in his next outing. He stopped the streak by stopping Dean Dodge in seven rounds for the vacant British Southern Area Super Featherweight Belt. Bellotti captured the vacant Commonwealth Super Featherweight Belt in 2023 by stopping Aqib Fiaz after eight rounds and added the British version with a 12-round unanimous decision over Liam Dillon.
The 29-year-old Padley hails from Doncaster and makes the ring walk with a fine record of 16-1 with 5 Ko’s and has 104 pro rounds under his belt since making his debut in 2019 following an amateur career. He’s reportedly 5-feet-7-inches tall and also has an unlisted reach, so is the same height as Bellotti. As far as power is concerned, Padley is lacking in this area as his current knockout ratio in his victories clocks in at just 31.2 per cent.
Padley has recorded just five stoppages as a pro but four of them have come in his past six fights so perhaps his power shouldn’t be taken too lightly. He won the British Central Area Lightweight Title in March, 2023 with a decision over Jimmy First and then captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization Lightweight Belt nine months later by stopping Lydon Chircop after six rounds. Padley took a huge step up in class against Shakur Stevenson as just five of his first 15 opponents entered the ring with a winning record. He also has a notable win over Mark Chamberlain via a 10-round unanimous decision in September, 2024.
Prediction…
Padley held his own against Shakur Stevenson due to his aggressive style and his performance led him to give up his day job as an electrician and focus solely on his boxing career. Bellotti has plenty of experience and power but has a shaky chin and is five years older than Padley at 34. Both boxers have fought limited opposition, other than Padley facing Stevenson as they’re on the domestic and European level. This is a pretty good matchup as they’re both on the same level and we’ll soon find out if Padley’s performances against Mark Chamberlain and Stevenson were a sign of things to come. This should be a pretty close contest but I’m expecting the younger Padley to emerge victorious.
Padley’s experience against Chamberlain and Stevenson will be valuable here.
