Hughie Fury vs Michael Webster Preview Nov. 29th, 2025

England’s Hughie Fury returns to the ring in Rotterdam, the Netherlands this Saturday, November 29th when he takes on fellow Englishman Michael Webster. The eight-round bout can be seen live in most nations on DAZN. Fury last fought in April when he stopped Dan Garber with a body shot in the fifth round. Webster last saw action in February when he was halted after nine rounds by Jeamie Tshikeva (also known as TKV) in a shot at the vacant IBO International Heavyweight Title. It was Webster’s second-straight stoppage defeat as he fought Solomon Dacres in a rematch for the English Heavyweight belt in July, 2024 and was TKO’d in the seventh round.

My Pick

Fury, who was born in Stockport, is of course the cousin of Tyson Fury. He’s now 31 years old and has more or less been taking on journeymen and aging veterans since making his pro debut in 2013. To be honest he’s basically been living off of his famous last name. He’s boxed a total of 181 rounds against the likes of Mariusz Wach, Christian Hammer, Pavel Sour, Samuel Peter, Sam Sexton, Fred Kassi, Dominick Guinn, Larry Olubamiwo, Andriy Rudenko and Matthew Greer.

When he did step up in class against Joseph Parker for a shot at his WBO Heavyweight Title in September, 2017 he held his own, but dropped a majority decision. He didn’t look impressive at all against Kubrat Pulev in October, 2018 though and also lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Alexander Povetkin when stepping up in class again in 2019. Fury’s record now stands at 30-3 with 17 Ko’s with the defeats coming to Parker, Pulev and Povetkin.

Fury enjoyed a pretty good amateur career and stopped Sam Sexton in five rounds in May, 2018 to win the British Heavyweight Title. He’s been mainly successful as a pro due to his size as he stands 6-feet-6-inches tall with an 80-inch wingspan. Along with winning the British Heavyweight Title, Fury also captured the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Belt in 2016 when he beat Fred Kassi by a seven-round technical unanimous decision. The fight went to the scorecards after Fury suffered a cut from an accidental butt and couldn’t continue.

Like his cousin Tyson, Fury’s actually pretty mobile in the ring but often slaps pity-pat punches instead of letting them go with power and that’s perhaps why his current knockout ratio stands at 56.7 per cent. He’s displayed a solid chin so far but hasn’t really needed it yet against most of his opponents. In reality, Fury isn’t considered championship material by most and never will be unless he can beat a current top-10 contender rather than journeymen and those in the twilight of their careers.

The 30-year-old Webster hails from Middlesbrough, and makes the ring walk with a record of 10-3 with 6 Ko’s. He just above average when it comes to power as 60 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. However he’s lost his last two fights by stoppage and has dropped three of his past four as Solomon Dacres beat him by 10-round majority decision in their first meeting in 2023 in a shot at the English Heavyweight Belt.

Unfortunately there’s no confirmed height and reach information for Webster so we don’t know how he stacks up size-wise against Fury. He’s boxed just 53 rounds since turning pro in 2019 following his amateur career which saw him reach the 2018 English National Elite semifinals. He also made it to the quarterfinals of the English ABAE National Championships in 2016. Just four of Webster’s 13 pro opponents entered the ring with a winning record and he managed to beat just one of them when he stopped Erdogan Kadrija in the third round in 2022.

Prediction…

Fury hasn’t fought much lately as he was out of the ring from October, 2021 until returning in April, 2024. He’s fought four times in his comeback against limited opposition and that trend continues against Webster this weekend. Webster has been stopped in his past two outings and has lost three of the last four. He has a heavyweight puncher’s chance but I don’t expect him to give Fury too much trouble on Saturday. Fury is expected to win this fight but it’s another sideways step in his career.

Fury’s experience and size should do the job.
