Olympics Men’s Golf Betting Picks

By Golf

After a 112 year absence, golf returns to the Olympics. It has been a long road that has seen many stumbling blocks and barriers. Especially of late as many of the top players have pulled out due to concerns over the Zika virus in Rio. A lot has been made about golf being played at the Olympics with Rory Mcilroy saying that he will watch the events that matter at the Olympics but doesn’t consider golf to be one of them. Comments like that from the leading figures in the game hasn’t helped and had the potential to dampen the excitement of this weeks event and golf in the Olympics going forward. With the 72 hole stroke play event only a day away, the excitement couldn’t be greater. The Zika virus and wayward comments from disgruntled players have been long forgotten. The excitement is palpable and the players are raring to go. The Olympic Golf Course is 7, 128 yards and plays as a par 71. The organizers who have set up the course have decided not to have any rough on it. With the fairways being wide and generous. Given that the course is a stones throw away from the Atlantic Ocean, the wind will act at the main defense. After nearly a century, golf will make a spine tingling return to the Olympics tomorrow. It promises to be incredibly special and exceptionally entertaining.

Henrik Stenson (+500 BetOnline.ag)

The super Swede is the highest ranked player in the world. Along with being the highest in the official world rankings, Stenson is in the form of his life. Having won the Open less than a month ago, he will be in a great position to compete for gold. His win at Royal Troon shows that he has what it takes to get it done in any condition. Stenson may have all the answers to the test ahead this week in Rio.

Danny Willett (+2000 BetOnline.ag)

The masters champion will look to add a gold medal to his green jacket. The course should suit Willett’s game really well. He hasn’t been in the best of form but will enjoy competing in a smaller field. It should bring out the best in him. Time and time again Willett has proved that he is a classy performer. A gold medal this week could guarantee a place in the golf hall of fame.

Jaco Van Zyl (+6600 BetOnline.ag)

The curious case of Jaco Van Zyl. The South African has certainly changed the narrative regarding golf at the Olympics. When other top players were casting doubt over golf”s place in the Olympics. Jaco Van Zyl was skipping the Open and PGA Championship to prepare for the Olympic event. Quite staggering as he was more than happy to not play in the majors and rather focus his attention on winning a gold medal for his country at Rio. Once can’t help but stand back and be incredibly impressed with his defiant attitude. He has taken a brave stand and is determined, talented and ambitious. He could add to to the other fairy-tale stories that this amazing edition of the Olympics has already produced.
