Jose Armando Resendiz vs Koen Mazoudier Preview October 17th, 2026

Koen Mazoudier of Australia and Mexico’s Jose Armando Resendiz tangle in a 10-round super middleweight bout this Saturday, October 17th. The fight from Las Vegas, Nevada can be seen live on DAZN in most nations while fans in America can also tune into TNT and Tru TV. Mazoudier last saw action in August when he beat Sam Beck by a 10-round unanimous decision. Resendiz’s last fight resulted in a 12-round unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Jaime Munguia which saw him lose his WBA World Super Middleweight Title. Resendiz originally won the interim WBA Belt in May, 2025 with a split decision upset over Caleb Plant and was elevated to full champion this January when Terence Crawford retired.

My Pick

Resendiz, who fights out of South Gate, California, is 27 years old and has boxed 113 rounds since making his pro debut in 2018. He makes his ring walk with a record of 16-3 with 11 Ko’s. He stands 5-feet-10-inches tall with a 69-inch and has been fighting as a super middleweight and middleweight recently after starting his career as a light heavyweight. His first defeat came at the hands of Marcos Hernandez by 10-round unanimous decision in 2021 after being dropped in the second round. He was then beaten by eighth-round TKO by Elijah Garcia in 2023 and lost his last fight to Munguia.

As far as power is concerned, Resendiz appears to have enough of it to cause some damage as 68.7 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage including 11 of his last 13. However he has lost three of his past seven fights. He has fought some top-class opponents but just 11 of his overall 19 opponents entered the ring with a winning record. Of course he did beat Caleb Plant though in his first legitimate test. Resendiz has also beaten the likes of former world champion Jarrett Hurd as well as Heber Rondon, Quilisto Madera, Michel Rosales Hernandez and Jaime Hernandez Lopez.

As for Mazoudier, the 31-year-old climbs through the ropes with a mark of 16-4-1 with 6 Ko’s. He has boxed 155 rounds since making his pro debut in 2018. He stands just over six-feet-tall with a 71-inch reach for a 2.5-inch edge in height and a two-inch reach advantage on Resendiz. He carries below-average power in his arsenal though as just 37.5 per cent of his wins have come by stoppage. in fact, he’s halted just two of his last 11 opponents. As an amateur Mazoudier reached the semifinals of the 2017 Australian National Championships and made it to the quarterfinals in 2015.

The four defeats on Mazoudier’s record came to Luke Woods by 10-round majority decision in 2019 in a shot at the vacant IBF Oceania-Orient Super Welterweight Belt; to Wade Ryan by 10th-round TKO in 2021 in a crack at the IBO International Super Welterweight Title; by 10-round majority decision to Benjamin Hussain and a ninth-round TKO to Nikita Tzsyu in 2024 for the vacant IBF Australasian and WBO Inter-Continental Super Welterweight Titles.

As a pro, he captured the vacant WBF Australasian Super Welterweight Crown by halting Will Parsons after six rounds. Mazoudier also captured the vacant Australian Super Welterweight Belt in 2025 via a 10-round unanimous nod over Dan Hill and has defended it twice. The lone draw on his record was a 10-round affair with Ben Mahoney in March, 2023. This will be Mazoudier’s first pro fight in America and just his second outside of Australia.

Prediction…

Resendiz is stepping taking this fight on just 10 days’ notice as he’s replacing Jermall Charlo, who pulled out of a meeting with Mazoudier twice now, this time with a reported injury. Mazoudier is taking a bit of a step up in class here as Resendiz has faced stiffer pro opponents. The Australian has been stopped twice and Resendiz has been halted once. They’re both fan-friendly boxers with aggressive styles but Mazoudier may lack the power to keep Resendiz from attacking. This should be a relatively close fight for a few rounds but I’m expecting Resendiz to win it by late stoppage or decision.

Resendiz’s power and aggressiveness should be the difference.
