Undefeated and undisputed Heavyweight Champion Claressa Shields will be moving down in weight to challenge WBC/WBA Middleweight Champion Kaye Scott over 10, two-minute rounds this Saturday, August 15th. Shields, who hails from Flint, Michigan, last fought in December when she shut out Franchon Crews Dezurn in a rematch to defend her heavyweight belts. The two boxers first met in their pro debuts back in 2016 with Shields winning a four-round unanimous decision. In her previous outing in July, 2025, Shields beat Lani Daniels by unanimous decision. Shields is a two-time Olympic gold medallist and three-weight world champion as a pro. Scott of Sydney, Australia, last stepped into the ring in December when she edged Olivia Curry by majority decision to win the vacant WBC/WBA Belts. Scott and Curry fought for the vacant belts three months earlier and battled to a 10-round draw. Saturday’s fight from Atlanta, Georgia can be seen live on DAZN in most nations.

Kaye Scott is 42 years old and enters the ring with a mark of 5-1-1 with no knockouts and has boxed 56 rounds since making her pro debut in 2023. She enjoyed an extensive amateur career as she fought at 2014 Commonwealth Games and made it to the quarterfinals. She boxed at the 2016 Women’s World Championships as a light heavyweight and captured a silver medal and then won a bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games as a welterweight.
Scott also won a silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games as a light middleweight and claimed another silver at the 2023 World Championships as a light middleweight. She stands 5-feet-10-inches tall with a 70-inch reach for an inch height advantage over Shields as well as a two-inch edge in reach. Her lone pro defeat came at the hands of fellow Aussie Desley Robinson via a 10-round unanimous decision in December, 2024 in a shot at the vacant IBF Middleweight Title.
However Scott had beaten Robinson by an eight-round majority decision nine months earlier in her second pro outing to win the vacant Australian Middleweight Belt. Shields won gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics as a middleweight and as a pro she holds the record for becoming a two and three-weight world champion in the fewest professional contests and is the only boxer in history to hold four major world titles (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) at the same time in two different weight classes.
As an amateur, she also won gold at the 2014 and 2016 World Championships as well as the 2015 Pan American Games, where she took it as a light heavyweight. Since turning pro, she became the undisputed middleweight champion in 2019 by beating Christina Hammer and the undisputed light-middleweight champion two years later by beating Marie Eve Dicaire. From 2017 to 2018 she was also the unified IBF and WBC Super Middleweight Champion.
Shields stopped Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in the second round for the WBC and WBF Heavyweight Titles as well as the vacant WBO Light Heavyweight Belt in 2024 and then added the vacant WBO and WBF Heavyweight Belts in February, 2025 via a unanimous decision over Danielle Perkins after dropping her in the 10th round. Shields stands 5-feet-9-inches tall with a 68-inch reach. She’s no knockout artist though as she has halted just one of her past 14 opponents.

Shields is 11 years younger than Scott and has a wealth of amateur and pro experience while Scott has fought just seven times as a pro. Neither of them possess much in the way of power but both own fine boxing skills. Most of Shields’ fights lack drama and action though as she rarely takes on other elite women’s boxers such as Amanda Serrano, Katie Taylor, Gabriela Fundora, Alycia Baumgardner and Mikaela Mayer since most of them fight in the lighter divisions. Shields claims to be the greatest female boxer out there but she doesn’t doesn’t really entertain the fans. That could change though if she eventually meets newly-crowned IBF/WBO/Ring Middleweight Champion Tammara Thibault. This week’s fight against Scott will likely go the distance with Shields doing enough to win it.
